Default Harsh Ride for a daily driver

OK, So I have been driving my Z daily for the past few weeks and man is the suspension stiff. It's harsh as hell when going over small bumps. I don't think I can use it as a daily driver. I know it's a sports car and all. But, I also have been driving an RX-7 for 10 years now, and it doesn't seem near as bad (I suspect the suspension is completely worn out though).

Anyone else agree the ride quality is almost ubearable for a daily driver??

Yeah, I drive my Z from school to home ocassionally on the interstate. Its about 300 miles. I am almost in a constant up and down bounce, pretty rough. I have 19s on with stock suspension running 35 profile tire so that makes it a little worse. This is my first sports car so I dont know what to compare it to. My friend has a S2k and I noticed its as bad if not worse bone stock. Its pretty much normal for sports cars, I guess we just got to get used to it.

Well it depends where you drive. Then again this is a sports car!

It depends. I live in area with pretty nice roads and very few potholes/dips etc. so I don't really notice it.

A Chevrolet Cobalt coupe is a very good daily driver

It lets the Z cruise on nights and on the weekends

The suspension was meant to be harsh. As you pointed out, its a sport car and the Z was meant to perform first, luxary second. I wouldn't want it any other way. The answer for you guys is the G35.

Did you guys not test drive the car before you buy?

I changed to the Zeal suspension and when I put it on soft, it rides so smooth there is no harshness like when stock. It pays off a lot to get an adjustable coilover.

Wouldn't it be nice to be an informed buyer before you purchase something? That complaint has been around since the cars came out. All you have to do is 1)Realize you're purchasing a SPORTS CAR not a Caddy. 2)Maybe read up on some things before you purchase it. 3) Has anyone asked the question of whether he test drove the car before he bought it? I mean usually people test drive cars to see what they drive, ride, and perform like BEFORE they buy them.

I drive daily but only have a 3 mile commute to work. On the other hand the roads are pretty good here so when I do go driving its not that bad. I think I could use it as a daily if I had a longer commute.

I have a 2003 and the suspension suppossedly is the stiffiest then all the later years and i don't find the ride rough. I find the ride like a sports car. How old are you?

Suspension is stiff and harsh. However, the great thing is that it has only two seats that way you dont have to hear three ****** saying how hard the suspension is.

Dont give up one of the most impressive sports cars ever made for comfort... go buy a used neon for comfort for 8k and keep your Z.

I found the stock ride too soft, too mushy in the turns w/ too much body roll, and too porpoisey (I know it's not a real word) on the I-10. So I installed coilovers, lowered 1.25", adjusted the shocks to stiffer rebound, installed Stillen sway bars w/ Prothane bushings and GT-Spec front and rear frame braces, and went to WIDE wheels and rubber.
I love the way my ZR handles/feels now; like an honest to God sports car whose handling I can predict and trust.
I simply can't imagine why you would want the car to ride "softer" than stock. Maybe you bought the wrong type of car for your expectations.

If most people were informed the ride was harsh before they bought it, they'd still buy it anyway.

When I was test driving Z's I took my wife for a ride in one over some bumpy roads. She hated the ride and I admit that the ride seemed a bit too stiff at first. Today, I love the stiffness, the wife still dislikes it, but life is good. I wouldn't have it any other way.

get some aftermarket springs such as tein s-techs or hotchkis. it will really help soften the ride and alleviate the bouncing. do a search if you don't believe me.
