I think I may be able to help. I have a Japanese brochure from 2003. It shows a picture of the 3 buttons on the center console. Two of course are for the heated seats. The one that is blank on our car has A/T printed on the center of the rocker switch, "POWER" printed on the front end, and "SNOW" on the back end. It does not show the shifter in the picture, but I assume it's a 5AT. I don't think it's T/C because in one of the other pictures it shows the T/C button in the same place as ours. I would think it has something to do with the shift patterns in snowy weather as opposed to dry.

sorry didn't read all the posts.. too many.. so maybe someone already posted this:
With regard to the extra button:
European models have headlight washing units as well as headlight autolevelling. So maybe it is a button related to that. Unfortunately the best pic I found does not really show anything.
They also have brembos as standard. But I don't think they have TPMS, at least I didn't find it mentioned anywhere.
Also the orange is an extra option above the leather option and you get an orange leather shift **** as well. And the lower third of the steering wheel is orange too.
Furthermore they come standard with all three airbags (front, side, head/curtain?)
Also they come with an ashtray that has a light to it.
The non-Bose audio system also takes 6 CDs.
You can add a parking aid option (ultrasound in the back, beeps faster and faster the closer you get for parallel parking)
And for the coupe you have to pay roughly between 39 and 45k Euros depending on country for the "premium" trim (leather).
Metallic paint, orange leather, and Nav not included.
Anyone buying a Z in europe has to be richer than here.

It's for the passenger airbag cut-off switch. Supposedly, you can get this installed at the Nissan dealership if you request it and plan on using a baby seat in the passenger seat. If you look in the back there are latch points for a baby seat. If you look on your sun visor, you wil see an airbag warning saying that it is illegal to put a rear facing baby seat in a chair with active frontal crash airbags. If you're actually stupid enough to put a baby in your Z, the cut-off switch makes it legal to put a rear facing baby seat in the passenger chair.
