Unhappy Another Hit And Run Victim

This morning I run over to the grocery store, When I come out I notice there is a dent in my hood. Apparently someone backed into my car denting the hood and some light scrapes on the top of the bumper. Went to the body shop, $1,300 estimate to replace the hood and repaint the bumper. Worse is, I only have comprehensive on the car and don't know if it will be covered.

Sorry to hear it. Bad news.....Unless you can prove it was a flying object of some sort Insurance will not cover it under comp.

Why don't you have full coverage on a $30,000.00 car?

I know, it wasen't very bright. I just finished paying the car off and since I only drive it on weekends (2004 with 9,500 miles), I didn't renew the collision coverage. Although someone told me that a hit and run in a parking lot is considered vandalism which would be covered under comprehensive.

I would consider an aftermarket hood and bumper but from what i've heard and read, most have fitment issues and require body work to get them to look right. And come loose with time.

How is the NISMO front bumper, I heard they have a v2? I also want to get the clear bra put on now since I have to repaint the hood and bumper (at least now i'm glad it wasen't put on before) and I don't think it's an option with aftermarket body parts.

Thanks man, I have an appointment to get the car inspected by the adjuster tommorow. I think they should cover it under comprehensive since it was a hit and they took off (I guess ?). It's the same as someone vandalizing your car and taking off. Did some research on gogle and it seems that might be the case .-

Default H1 Alpha

This is exactly the reason I would love to use an H1 Alpha as a daily driver. That vehicle will not dent at all. In fact, if someone did scratch/hit an H1, I would just laugh knowing they definitely got the bad end of the deal.

PS. I like to play rough on the road with huge SUVs. Bigger is always better.

I don't know about you and the laws there, but when I had comprehensive on my old Mustang and someone backed into me in a parkinglot it was covered under the hit and run part of the policy.

Good news. GEICO is treating the acccident as vandalism and therefore my comprehensive is covering it. Still pay the $500 deductible. Now I need to add Collision to cover unforseen circumstances. Too many crazy uninsured drivers out there. Got lucky on this one.

Now to decide on replacing with a carbon fiber hood or going OEM and getting clear bra put on. At least now I get to take care of all the rock chips on the hood and bumper and figure now is the time to go with the clear bra. I'm not too sold on the quality of aftermarket hoods (finish and fit) and think it would affect the resale value if I decide to sell it later.

sorry to hear the bad news, good luck fixing it. And hey that is why when you have a nice car you park as far away from everyone as you possibly can. My car is paid for so I'm not really like that anymore.

My mom on the other hand is that way and she plans on getting a GS this year, and believe you me. She doesnt' care if there are 3 open parking spaces in front of the store, she will park hundreds of feet away, just to cut down on the risk of having her car dinged. You always see people like that anyway, when you see a nice, benz, sequioa, GS, anything parked far away with no other cars around it. Those are the people who dont' want dents, cause trully some people dont' give a rats *** about their cars and they dont' care about anyone elses either.

Other than reducing the weight, what exactly are the advantages to using CF replacement parts on your vehicle? Wouldn't a CF comprimise the safety of the vehicle (or the passengers) in the event of a crash?
