Got ripped off on Ebay today but Nissan's replacing my motor!!
What a day...
As some of you know, I have been going through the oil consumption testing process with my new car. It was originally bought from Driftinz off this board about two months ago and its been a great car, if not the best one I have ever owned minus this, well major issue.
Anyway, after figuring out that miserable dipstick of ours I noticed that my car was just going through oil like crazy. I did my research on here and some of the other z boards and found out that some of you were having oil consumption issues.
So after determining that my new car might have the same issue I went to Regal Nissan here in Atlanta and began the oil consumption test.
After completing my 600 miles, the car showed a decrease of 1.25 qrts of Mobile 1 5w-30.
The service advisor who was helping was really cool, he builds 300's so it was nice to see someone take this problem on as their own and help me out. Especially since I was the new owner, had never been to that dealer before and the car had 48K on the engine.
Last week I was asked to drop the car off on Tuesday because Nissan wanted them to begin the internal inspection. Well, over the past two days, the picture presented itself with compression of 80 on the 4th cylinder along with oil being found in that area. Upon further inspection of the head, the cams were scored and the valives on 3 & 6 were in bad shape from oil depervation.
So... I just got off the phone with them and was adivised that they ordered a new long block for me today from Nissan and I should have my car back by the first of next week with a brand new motor...
This is my first Nissan and I am very happy with the service I got. It could have been alot worse. So if any of you are in Atlanta, Regal is a good dealership to work with if you have any issues.
Oh and about the Ebay rip off. With the hundreds of items I have bought off there I finally got ripped off today when I bought a Sony camcorder. I am not happy about that but I think I have some recourse with Amex and or ebay/paypal.
Hmm.. Maybe they will let me keep the old motor so I can begin building it for FI...
Best Regards,
Jonathan Allyn

Hey Jonathanallyn,
Sorry to hear about your bad day. As for keeping the old engine, I would not start buying parts, as Nissan will want that in exchange for your new motor. They have an extensive R&D program to test this block or perform an autopsy if you will to see what caused it's fatal demise. Anyway good luck with your new motor.

After that, they checked the oil and agreed with me.
Thats about it.
