Default Funny noise when cold??

On cold mornings when the temp is below 50, my car makes a "whinning" noise when I reach second and third gears. If I push in the clutch the noise goes away then starts again when I let out the clutch. It's difficult to determine exactly where the sound is coming from but it appears to be associated with the clutch. The sound only lasts for 30 or 40 seconds then goes away.

Anybody else experience this or know what causes it?

cars will make funny noises when the temp drops. If the noise gets worse and persists regardless of weather, then I would be concerned about it.

I have to dissagree with you. I've owned over 20 cars in my life and I've never had one make a funny noise in cold weather. However I do agree that if it gets worse I'm going to take in in.

I have had the same problem ever since I had the factory transmission fluid flush and put in the new fluid. It was explained to me that the fluid needs to be warmed up a little bit.

What I do is keep it under 3K rpm's until I cruise for about 1 minute or two in third gear, by then the fluid appears to be warmed up enough that it is doing to job.

Now, do I beleive this "warming up the transimission fluid" explanation, not entirely, I plan on having someone that I trust flush the fluid again and I have heard of other better coating fluids that can be used.

If anybody else can make any recommendations I would love to hear them as well.

^_^
