I thought bhp meant Brake Horsepower, referring to a giant brake that they used on an engine/flywheel assembly to determine the power that the engine was outputting. Correct me if I'm wrong... we're all here to learn.

The big difference is that bhp (I'm pretty sure) is a measure of the engine's output. Any type of wheel hp figures are after drivetrain losses. If you mod your car with something like a lightened flywheel/clutch combo, there's less drivetrain moment of inertia so the engine won't make more power, but more of the power that it does make will get to the wheels.

hmm i may be stanging corrected... ive always been under the impression that it was Base... but Brake seems to make more sense. either was "base" means the same thing as "brake" to me. if sum1 says brake or base i'll know what their talking about.. we need a few more opinions.. lol

yer right! BHP = Brake hp, i heard it just today on a auto tv show.

to the original poster..
i sure wish i had the power to make someone want to drop 10K on mods!! wow you are easily influenced, i can see you crashing and burning already!!

but thats your choise if you want to do it..
like most here after dooing my research would go Twin turbo/ tune also!
lower car for less wind resistance.

HOWEVER i would try a different way
go to the vendors or Forced induction forums and make a post something like
" I have 10k for mods, please list what your shop will do for me"
so the vendors can see what more others will offer...and start taking competitave bids.. kind of like a reverse auction/ hehe

or is this just a stupid

haha, the veyron beat a personal aircraft from italy to london on Top Gear! So the Veyron's still the better choice, plus you don't need a pilot licence to drive that thing (though maybe one should be required ).

For 500 bucks buy a gun and bullets, when the race starts your first move is to shoot out a tire. You will never lose unless you miss, and best off all you can save 9,500 bucks

Yeah, those POS honda. But for real dude, if you wanna put 10k down...then might as well put that money and trade in your Z for a carrera, it's much more worth it. But i'm curious, I thought the Z could run with a carrera ( new one ) 'cause i beat it and my Z is totally stock. The dude in a carrera, keep asking to race over and over...I just keep beating him.

People often THINK that I'm trying to race their 350Zs, I'm sure, but I just want to look at the car for as long as I can.

I have actually heard the same thing about stock Z's beating stock Carrera's (and new ones too). Its when the Carrera gets that all important F/I that makes it a comletely different vehicle.

I only agree with a small part of this...trade it in. Spend an extra $10K and get a used Viper.

You need to investigate the Turbonetics Stage 1.5 kit, coming soon. It will put you up to the limit of what your stock block can handle for under 10K with tuning, and you'll still have a good, tame daily driver for those mellow days.

go spend 400 bucks on a ps2, logitec racing wheel, and GT4 and race all day long them civic's won't be able to handle the power.

seriously as others have already stated there will always be a faster better car out there on the road. The z is already well above the majority of the cars on the road performance wise so if you're reasoning to upgrade with 10grand is just to make your car faster than others on the street you should think again. you'll just end up getting more depressed when a sleeper civic with a few hundred hp kills you.

I seen a Viper cruising down the highway for the third time in my life that was actually moving. Damn that thing was so beautiful the guy must have through I was trying to race him. I was riding close behind him to the left but I feared teh power!

if you want to drop 10k into your Z because ricer hondas wanna race you and you feel like your pride is at stake, you have alot to learn. Grow up a bit, i cant believe anyone who is fortunate to have a Z and 10k to spend on it is so immature.

That was a little harsh wasn't it? When you drop $30+K on a sports car, it is a little irritating that a crappy $7k honda can walk you. I understand the want for more power. I'll bet a lot of others here can sympathize as well. Maturity has nothing to do with it.
