Default Modding dilemma...

Hey guys, i need to mod my 06 but i'm not sure which route I should go. I want either package 1 (stillen intake, megan racing test pipes, megan racing y-pipe) or package 2 (Hochkis tvs stage 1 suspension kit, front upper strut bar and underbody brace). What do you guys think? Speed vs suspension?

I'd go 2. But I've always preferred to build the suspension and brakes first on all cars I've owned.

Well, it wastes too much gas plus it weighs too much compared to other vehicles. Plus it was 8 years old, I like the change.

Well I have this dilemma because I raced a buddies 05 s2k today and blew its doors off. After a few of those races I took out my friends 03 M3 SMGII Conv. with the hardtop on it. What I noticed about the z is it needs a bit more power up top, it starts to die out. Package 2 is great also because its perfect for track days and canyon carving.

Suspension & wheels first. Extra power doesn't help much if you can't put it down and control it.

I'd say package 1 for now. the stock suspension is pretty good allowing you to learn the characteristics of the car and upgrade suspension when you feel that you're ready. which model did you buy?

P.S. i have an 06 PPW also

there isnt a whole lot of power in the z (na), but you can definitely improve the suspension. id recommend staying away from any boltons other than an exhaust + crank pulley. if you really want power you have to go FI.

Honestly this car doesnt need a lot of power, its not made for all that power in my opinion. A few bolt-on's and your set for track use. All that power is for quarter mile and highway runs. For track use, I would go with a intake, test pipes, y-pipe, exhaust, crank pulley and mrev upgrade. If money isnt too much of an object than the utec will do wonders. All around these cars are great from handling to power delivery.

i've got the enthusiast as well. i've heard conflicting stories about the stock brembo's and track...i ran streets of willow with stock 06 brakes and wheels and i did just fine, i think i ran 1.34.9 and the brakes didn't fade at all (motul rbf 600 swap only). i did scrape off enough pad to trigger a brake light though (added some fluid and it solved the problem). i'll probably run some stop tech 14"/12.9" when i start going to different tracks that demand more from brakes but for streets, stock setup worked fine for me.
