ehmmmm.... no, not quite.
there is a connector behind the shifter, right under the ash tray... you need to unplug that.
no need to remove all that stuff, just unscrew the center tunel cover(3-4 screws) and raise it a bit until you can unplug the connector.

lol im a visual learner
I am currently 6000kms from my car... it's going to be hard to show you
But do not despair! It's pretty easy, lol.
You need to unscrew the center tunel cover. There are 5 screws I believe.
1- is under the ashtray, you need to remove the ashtray
2- is on the left side at complete back, around where seatbelt plug
3- is same as above, on the right side
4- is right under that white connector you are holding in your THIRD picture.
5- is the other one on other side.
You lift gently the tunel cover, and right under the ashtray there is a grey connector that goes to the bosch unit(it has bosh written on it I believe) you unplug that and you are done.

but i do have to do that every time i turn VDC completely OFF?
wouldnt it be easier to leave the 2 screws off the bosch unit and just let it be...
then i can just lift the shift assembly to disable?
screwing out 5 screws and disconnecting is fine if u dont plan to do it often i think...
or im @@?

I don't understand what you are trying to do with the screws and bosch unit.

Another's post above makes my point: it might be okay for experienced semi-pro drivers to disable VDC BUT 90% of Z owners do NOT qualify and have no biz taking out safety devices.
Another does not know enough about the Z to understand VDC includes TCS.
You guys who are thinking about doing this need to read the last half or so of this:
