driving with no hatch?
Alright bear with me here, not that i would do it but i think it would be pretty sweet driving around without the hatch on in nice weather. Like removing the whole hatch, windows down on a nice day, i think it would be pretty cool. Anyone have a pic with the hatch removed, maybe somebody who put on a CF hatch? Id imagine it would be a PIA to take off, would it affect the driving dynamics/any rigidity problems? I wouldnt think so, the rear strut would still be completely intact.

LOL this reminds of some guy yesterday who was driving a old honda accord without a front windshield, nut didnt even have some sort of glasses on.
Mabey someone has a photochop of a Z without a hatch, tho I think it would look kinda lame I dont think it would affect the rigidity much, aero mostly.

yea i was trying to visualize it with my Z but i cant really get the full effect. Im sure it wouldnt look to pretty. True you could just buy a vert but if you already have a coup like myself, it would interesting. theres alot of threads about T-tops and stuff and thats a no-go, but i havent seen one about this.
would also cut some weight at the track ...im pretty sure that wouldnt be legal though

no imagine taking off the hatch and replacing it with a 3lb lexan shell of the hatch... you could get some sick 1/4 mile times with that kind of weight reduction.. and as much as removing the hatch would be sweet, it would look horribly wrong..

any specs on how much it weighs.... but it would remind me of a del sol rollup rear window effect HAHA crazy thought... maybe you could run better times at the track, but if i ever caught myself doing that... i would concider jumping out due to my ego, i want to see it done by somebody though(not the jumping part)

if you want to go all out for weight reduction, just remove the hatch as well as every body panel on the car. I'm sure you would save a bunch of weight and get that awesome convertible experience you were looking for.

well the only flaw in doing this is that the over car airflow would get held up in the trunk in that 10 inch high back of the trunk creating slight drag. If you put CF diffusers on the roof like in the new EVO's then you wouldnt have that drag problem but then again im looking into it too deeply...
