Default 2006s really that heavy and slow ?

I'm about to buy an 06 enthuathist and i was just wondering are they slower than the 04s and 05s, I know they're heavier, but I was thinking the 300 HP would make up for it.

I don't really care too much about a few tenths myself, but with less torque, I just worry that they "feel" slower. Any input on that?

Default Power/weight

I think that this can be calculated.

Power/weight is the figure which is important. If my '03 has 287 hp and weighs 3100 lb, the power/weight is 10.7 hp/pound. If a car has 300 hp and weight is 3300 then the power/weight is 11.0 hp/lb.

If these numbers are correct then the increase in hp would more than account for the increase in weight.

I'm at the office so I don't have access to weight of our 350's.

I have an 06 6mt, and my buddy has a 04 6mt, we have driven eachothers cars and they pretty much feel the same (acceleration wise). The 06 has a smoother feeling clutch and transmission though. Its probably a few ticks slower than the 03-05, but you cant really tell.

I got a 06 and it feels nicer up top with the REVUP motor. Just get the 06 and install the MREV. The 06's are awesome, very smooth and nible yet controlled and driver friendly.

Yeah...i traded my 05' Base for my 06' Base...and honestly i can't really feel the weight difference...but i can feel the power difference...the lost of torque for the 06 made it feel slower but once you get going...the power keeps on going at the high rpms not like my 05' where i would lose power...overall im happy with my 06'...just get some headers, intake, test pipes and exhaust and you should get the low end torque back...

personally i wouldnt let that stop you from getting a 06.
+1. The debate will go on forever especially from those who are not regulars at the dragstrip. A practiced driver in a car with less horsepower can beat a novice driver every time.

Some drivers claim that they can feel plus or minus 10 horsepower. I cannot. The dyno is also an imperfect tool. Others may disagree, but I am more impressed with what the driver can do with the 350Z rather than the number themselves.

Perfectly said and very true. Dont worry about it, get the 06' and do the MREV which adds a big chunk of midrange horsepower and torque and you'll be set....

Not another one of these threads . . .

No, there is no noticeable difference in performance between 2006 and the previous years as determined by head to head competition. It's a drivers race. Don't worry about it.

Well, but then there was that head-to-head where the 2006 came out a few car lengths ahead. Just shows it's a drivers race is all.

I think the difference might be more noticeable in the twisties. So, if you care about handling...

i agree with most others on here about that, if unnoticable weight is THAT important to ya, it easy to loose it... 1/2 tank gas, remove spare/tools,
remove passenger if possible, and loose personal weight if you can heh

all that should be good for 150lbs..

try removing..
rear hatch as suggested in another thread.
rear wiper/ washer asembly
front washer fluid
helium in your tires
remove stereo equipment and SUBS!!
pass seat,
anything you simplty dont NEED..

i think you get my point lol
but seriousy.. get it you will like it
i had 2 03's i easily like this best

I know someone's going to say it... Horespower sells cars, torque wins races. - Shelby
