With the OEM tires it not too difficult.

Turn off TCS/VDC. Put it in manual-mode and just floor it. With the Potenzas it's easier to burn when the pavement and tires are cooler. You might be able to get a longer burn if you brake torque while the tires are cold. You can also try to drift the car with TCS/VDC disabled and in manual-mode.

Toyo Proxes 285 in the rear...

No drifting allowed on the drag strip...

My Tanabe coil-overs are no help either (for burn out that is, they are great for traction)

I have a built 5AT transmission, so it can handle some abuse.

I currently rev. the motor to 3000 and then let go of the brakes, does spin the wheels somewhat.

How high could I rev without damaging a (normal) 5AT trann ?

Thanks

Danny

Get a line lock kit...about $50. Locks the front brakes and releases the rears. Flip the switch and floor it. Watch the pretty smoke rise.

Well, my car IS a street car that I occasionally drag race.

I know I could change the rims and tires before the event, but that would deter from the looks of my car. I also want to race it "street-car". Neither do I take out my sub woofer box for example.

Traction is a major problem at the drag strips here. Burning out should give me just a little more traction, even with "street tires", right ?

Classic AT Burnout Tricks:
1. Neutral Slam
2. Reverse to Drive Torque Patch
3. Pouring gasoline on rear tires & throwin a match.

All will probably give you smokin tires & leave you with a fcked up car!

u can do better burn outs with an automatic than a manual. if anyone is interested i have videos to prove it. why someone mite ask... i was on my toyo 275 and i was shifting into 4th gear while the tires were smoking up like crazy. you have to pull the brake fuse from your car and hold down the breaks. apply gas and shift gears as u approach red line. if u rinse and repeat to often u will be in dire need of new tires very often.

the thing is u cant just preload it without taking out your brake fuse cause i believe there is something that still works to kill the power as the rear tires are spinning thats why u need to remove the brake fuse and u can spin all you want and the full power of the motor

if u pull the brake fuse its guaranteed that you will have more power in the back to do burnouts and i never fishtail when I do burn outs so maybe its the fuse I dont know.
