Default What a day . . . help ? ?

Well first picked up my first Z, SB 04 Performance today, drove it around the rest of the day and when I get home I hear this rattle when the clutch is out, coming from right under the passenger seat ?

And I hear a hissing sound coming from under the car ? like air is coming from somewhere ?

Help ? ? ?

Kinda ruins the day.

Thanks

Haha... you will come to learn that EVERYTHING rattles in the interior. My dash rattled, along with the passenger door, and the rear speaker holders. You have three options:
1) Get used to it (not possible)
2) Get new exhaust, the exhaust notes will either drown out the rattles, or make them even worse...
3) Take your car to a reputable nissan dealership and have them fix it.. should be covered under warrranty.

Thats what I did, the car was in for other reasons (gears grinding), and told them to listen for the rattles. They put some kind of foam in all of the dash panels and door panels free of charge..... no rattles whatsoever.. its quiet in there!

I see you have an '04, as do I. Be careful, the trannys have been known to have problems, I mentioned that my gears were grinding (6MT), just so happens that while the mechanic was driving the car, the tranny blew. Be mindful of any grinding while shifting if you have a 6-spd.

Also, there was a recall on the front alignment as well. Nissan replaced the front tires and fixed the alignment free of charge. My advice to you, find out if that recall was ever taken care of, or just check out the front tires for uneven wear.

Hope none of this scared you, the Z is a great machine.... enjoy it!

I have an 06 with about 2,500 miles, and there is noise coming from the drivetrain when the clutch isnt depressed, and when I push the clutch in it goes away. I think its really common for most Z's, not really noticable though.

The "hissing" sound might just be your intake... It's a beautiful sound IMO
