Well, I mean "hard" in a how many different supporting mods do you have to to get for FI, and such or what power levels do other parts need to be upgraded... ie. clutch/flywheel. That, as well as how much of the car do you have to breakdown to install some mods. For instance, on an wrx/STI, you have to take the block out of the car to change the headgasket...(call it "user friendly")

You know there is an entire FI section of this forum and a wonderful search function. I'll give you a little info though. People can argue with me if they want. Up to 400rwhp any FI kit will do with a clutch/fw. Above 400rwhp you'll need larger injectors. The APS TT kit is the only one that comes with the them. The rest of the kits will require you to get your own. That can tune you to a safe 450rwhp. The T-netics kit will only get to 400rwhp or so without upgrading the EMS as well. This next part is debatable but most will say up to 450rwhp is good before the motor has to open. More than 450rwhp would require the shortblock to be built. At this point, you have all you need to get to 550rwhp. So if you build the bottom end, go ahead and shoot for 550rwhp. Beyond that, the heads need to be opened for a port and polish and some cams. It has also been said that fuel pressure regulator may be necessary at this point along with a fuel return system. It looks as though most people can get to near 650rwhp or so with this setup. This next part is also debatable but it is recommended that you sleeve the blocks before getting into 700+rwhp. To date the highest hp streetable Z makes near 800rwhp although there is a drag Z making near 1400rwhp and running 6s. Any further info can be found using the search function.

why are the mods for the Z so friggin expensive?!!? I see turbo kits for other cars going for half the price if not less! Sign, enough *****ing and back to saving up for mods, lol.

Nope.....

APS TT kit = $7500
clutch/fw = 900
exhaust and test pipes = 1400
guages with install = 1000
upgraded radiator/oil cooler = 600
install = 3000

Total = $14,400

Now try to hook that power up with your stock wheels and tires and suspension.

Wheels/tires = $3000
Coilovers w/install = $2000

New total = $19,400

I don't do this to upset people or prove them wrong. I do this so they know what they are getting into. Most people on this site have no problem telling you what they spent. There are pleny members here that have over $40K in their car not including the price of the car. Just take that $19K mentioned and add another $10K for motor build and incidentals and you are near $30K in performance. Add $4K for a big brake kit. Add $4K for custom audio. Add $2500 for bodykit w/paint. You are over $40K and that was with modestly priced goods, not the people that spent $6K on wheels or $8K in audio or $6K on a widebody kit. Not to mention the new LSD you'll need, $2K installed. Don't forget the axles you're going to snap, $750 Level 2 axles.

Thanks for being cool. I have read 100 similar posts. They begin with a question, and 90 percent progress to My car (SRT-4) is faster than your car. I’m a creature of habit.

The number of 350Zs on the road and limited price competition.

As you mentioned, you can flip through a Mustang magazine and find comparable super chargers for half of what one will cost for a 350Z.

F-that crap. The srt-4 was always just a "I need a cheap fast car" for a couple years kinda thing for me. It has served its purpose, and now it's time to move on.
