a show called Top Dead Center tested a conventional oil and Royal purple and with a temp gun showed how royal purple reduced the internal temp of the engine in certain parts. It lowers the internal friction so much the it reduces heat and increases Hp, oh yeah more miles per gallon too. 06' book says 5w30. Use Royal purple, it's cheap insurance

I like royal purple but, when it hits $8 a quart and Mobil was less than $5; I changed back. Not to mention, you can't just drive into your local Walmart or Costco and get Royal Purple. I have to drive over 50 miles to buy the stuff. Now if RP was a little easier to get .......

There was a link floating about these forums last summer. I think it was to an article on an automotive mag's site and that article listed a number of things that can be done to increase hp without replacing/adding parts to a car. Using synthetic oil was one of those, and they too, observed 2-3hp increase during their testing.
As for me, I'll be switching to Mobil1 at my very first oil change.
I have long been a fan of Mobil 1, but I am currently about to give my car its 2nd oil change (odometer read 5997 miles).
Now, I would like to start using synthetic, but I have heard from several different shops that once you go synthetic, its not good to switch back. The claim it actually hurts different seals and what not in the engine.
Any truth to this?

^^ From what I've read, that is an urban legend. "Q&A" sections of major auto mags often have that same question, and usually, the questioner is told that it isn't so. Besides, your Z's inernals are practically brand new. Go synthetic!
