Default Help a future Z owner out =D

Hey guys, Well its finally coming, IM ALMOST 16!. Im a good student, decent athlete, and play piano and such; basically I make my parent happy. And of course since i was just a little kid, my parents promised me a sports car. Iv'e been looking at sports cars lately, and on my conclusion, I've found out that the Z car is the car for me! Ive been driving since the age of 10, from everything to corollas to corvettes. I haven't driven a manual anywhere as near as much as I've driven a AT trannies. So down to my question...I've read many, many threads on this forum (this place rocks!), and the ones that pertain to me are the issue of wether to get AT or MT. So what do you guys think? Should i get a MT or AT 350z. I personally like the feel of a MT, feels like you have the power in your hands, but disregarding safety, which tranny should I get in terms of basic FUNNESS (i know thats not a word lol) Help me out guys.

I'm also looking at getting a Z. I'm 95% sure that I want to get a MT, and that would no doubt offer you the most FUNNESS

Btw, you better cherish this car. You really don't know how lucky you are to get a sports car at the age of 16. I've had an easy life, but i'm 23 and am realizing that i'm years from getting a car like this. These forums don't really help much, because you see people younger than myself with Z's and other sports cars in their garages. Just don't take it for granted. And when you get out into the real world and have to work for things such as this (school and sports don't count), you will realize how easy you had it.

I don't mean to be bitter (ha). I really hope you enjoy the car.

Btw, if you do go with an MT, take it easy!

Hmmmm....make parents happy = sports car at 16. I wish it was that easy. Your parents must want you dead. I'm not blaming you. If my parents offered me a brand new 350Z when I turned 16, I would be thrilled to say the least. But there is something wrong with parents who want to buy their kids a powerful sports car when they just get their license.

You ran your car into a semi, and now you want to get a car that has ALOT more power than your corolla

Sorry kid, but I seriously do not think you are ready for this car.

On a side note, anyone here from San Antonio who can watch the news for a kid who slams his new car into a telephone pole and then the parents wonder what happened?? All because he downshifted in the middle of a turn while his friend in the passenger seat is yelling "this car isnt as fast as the one in the movie".

why do people feel the need to tell everyone how old they are when they ask a question? All it does is start a flame war.

Oh, and back to your original question, if you want to know whether to get an automatic or a manual. That choice is up to you because you (scratch that, you parents) are making the payments therefore, you need to decide what you are more comfortable with.

I don't blame you. If I were 16 all over again, I'd want to get a Z, too (back then, it was the Z32). But at 16, I was also very talented at crashing my car into things.

I'm sure you're a good son, a very good student, a decent driver, but I would just be careful. A "sportscar" as a "firstcar" can oftentimes be a mistake. You wouldn't want your parent(s) [whom you've worked so hard to please] to be missing you, should anything happen. Good luck, bro.

Get the Mt & get at least the Enthusiast with side airbags.

I have no clue how mature you are but don't get carried away; we don't want to see posts about you totaling your Z or, worse, your funeral. (we've several of both on here).

Tell your parents you want to take a driving course.

If your intent on seeing how fast you can go, do it wayyyyyyyyyyy out in the country on roads with little traffic and driveways.

Here is what i see happening
1. Get car
2. Have friends over friends says lets see how fast your car can go
3. Dave says "OK LETS DO IT"!!!
4. Crash and burn everyone dies.
5. We here at www.my350z.com say R.I.P all over agian

Just be carefull!!!!

I got the car a few months ago and first thing that happens to me is i spin out of control into a curb just because it started to rain a little . Plus the car was in perfect shape after that mess. Thank the Lord
