+1 on the immature vs. mature
just asking for abuse!
Around here, you don't have to ask for abuse, it will usually seek you out. Since you don't know the guy, how do you know you will have more pride...and appreciate it more? I thought the forums were for Z owners/enthusiasts, not just for Z "buyers". Envy is one of the Seven Deadly Sins.

I guess it's for Z owners (people who were given Zs and people who bought them with their own money)/entusiasts...

Of course I'm envious, saying I'll have more pride was just a way to deal with it!

Mavel2ick,
You're gonna get some heat with posts that indicate you're waiting on mom&dad's success so that you can have a nice car. That was why I suggested you keep that background to yourself. It's for your own good. It is of course up to you though.

You're a man of wisdom, but by the time I read it I couldn't unring the bell.

oh well...

I can drive a manual though, I've just not driven one with synchros; which is why I was asking the question.

I'll omit the hater posts and praise the positive one.

Thanks for the help, and you anwsered my question; as soon as I get a z I'll post it up

I figured I'd get a manual because the 350z is really a sports car, but unfortunately my knowledge on manuals is scarce so I came here where people know what they are talking about .

My general knowledge of cars is also very limited, but I'm trying to learn as much as I can. The most difficult thing on these forums though, is knowing who to listen to and who you can trust. You for the most part have know idea people's individual experiences. Some people just regurgitate what they have heard from other people with no actual merit or just plainly make **** up! Everyone here has an opinion on everything, whether or not their experience and knowledge is worthy of voicing it cannot be controlled. (I wish it could) It doesn't help people like myself trying to learn about cars being exposed to this bull****. But it is what it is and you just need to take everything with a grain of salt and ignore the bs as best you can.

Shifting techniques...Google is your best friend. Type in Manual Shifting Tutorial. You should get some good links. I've gotten really good at it but I learned in a civic before that. But it has been years since I've used manual when I got my Z. I still had a good grasp of it but had a hard time getting that catch point on the clutch. I've learned how to powershift. I'm now trying to learn heal and toe techniques. I should be pretty decent by the time summer comes. Good luck and I hope you get that car. But don't take that car for granted because it was given to you. Take care of it and take care of yourself when driving it. Later.

Welcome to the site. If you get that car you better appreciate it. I had to pay for every car I've ever owned and the Z is my 4th car (and first performance car). So, treat her like a lady, >

If you already got the concept of manual downs, you'll be fine.

The best thing is for you to just get behind the wheel of a Z and go for it.

Alot of folks, even though they've had plenty experience with manual cars, still had to adapt to their Z's when they took ownership. I stalled a couple times, but after a few days you're connected.

Until then I'm left with just wondering about the 350z, and wishing I could just go down and test drive one... I would, but I know if I did I'd fall too much in love with it and I couldn't stand waiting.

So I've got a rundown of a how a manul tranmission works and I learned from an old transmission. One where you had to put the car in nuetral every time you had to change the gears. So if I wanted to go from 2nd to 3rd I would have had to clutch in for nuetral, then clutch again for third... Now I understand that basicly all newer cars (like in the last 10 years) have synchros that eliminate the "double-cluthing". Does that mean I can be in 2nd gear, push down the clutch and just throw it directly in third gear and so on?
Take some driving lessons, grow some pubes then come back
