Stupid tourists
So I'm in stop-and-go traffic on the 101 fwy. I'm fiddling with my iPod at a complete stop when some Italian tourist in a rental car plows into my beautiful baby's rear. I only had the car for a month before this happened. Luckily, the moron bought the rental car's insurance so I'm dealing with them instead of some foreign company I'll never see money from. Just thought I'd post these pics since I'm picking her up tomorrow from the dealership's body shop. Damages came out to almost $9000, but my deductible's only $500, thank God. I tooled around for the last month in a rental C230 Kompressor and everyday I drove that thing I realized why I love my Z so much. Luxury is nice, but nothing beats raw power and style.
wow that sucks.. hey i dont get how tourist can rent cars? dont you need a valid drivers license to drive?? and a drivers license from at least the same country! ?
sorry about your car!!! yea you shouldn't have to pay the deductible!!!

Well, i eat the deductible until AAA fights the rental insurance for it back. Plus, I don't have rental car insurance so I eat that for now as well. AAA says they're waiting for the final invoice from the body shop and Enterprise before they fight. If all goes as it should, I should get the full amount back in a month or two.

So rear bumper, rear fender, door plus a sh**load of other assorted parts are getting replaced. Like I said, it was brand-new so I'm gonna have them replace whatever they say needs to be and not argue. The damage estimate doesn't even include anything mechanical. After paint is finished tomorrow, they're gonna have to check exhaust and suspension to see if anything is wrong in those areas. Oh well... as long as my out-of-pocket stays the same, they can check and replace all they want. You can see the damage to the rear fender...
Talk to the bodyshop that working on your car, they will order the kit for you.
i heard the only time that you can safely test the top speed of your car on the autobahn is after midnight, traffic is quite heavy during the day. i've seen a video of this Porsche factory test driver in a Ruf 911 and he went all the way up to 212mph at nite on the autobahn and it was quite scary.

did you watch that on the discovery channel or something?? i saw that too, that was sweet, i wish i could go 212...i wonder what that feels like to be behind the wheel of a car going 212, wow what a rush
yeah...your right, it was the Discovery channel or something. They had the camera mounted behind the driver's shoulder and the speedometer maxed out at 212mph....my knees were shaking just by watching.

.
I got rear ended and had the exact same damage as you (happened the day I bought the car!). Had it fixed at the dealership's on-site body shop and the total came to about half of what you stated, including repairs to a bent exhaust.
Still trying to figure out why you used your own insurance. You should have dealt with the rental co's insurance directly and never involved yours. Oh and good luck on getting reimbursed the full amount for a C230 rental.
