I should be a saleman. If I didn't already own a SS I jump on this one!
Wow ... and it's a 2k4 ... with ONLY 8k on it ... definitely a much better deal ... In fact, you could even get it shipped to you with DAS and still spend less than 20k.

Another important thing to consider is that with the 2k4, you'll have a year of warranty left. With the 2k3, at that mileage, you're on your own from day one pretty much.

mecinoid is right ... if I was in the market, I'd jump on this now.

According to the listed VIN (JN1AZ34E64T061037), it is ... yup ... you can pull a complete carfax on it if you want for like $8.00 ... in fact, the seller might even be willing to send you a copy for free.

$19k is a steal ...

But the only items replaced were the front bumper, hood, and the headlight on one side. Did you pull a carfax on the one you're looking at for 20k? If not, it's possible that it has collision damage as well.

Plus, you get more warranty from the factory, Nismo Exhaust, Intake, and Wheels ... that's like 3-4k in 'stuff'.

In the end, it's your money, but there are plenty of ebay deals that beat the one you listed.

Good Luck!

You can sum it up right here: drive around town today for lets say 2 hrs., check out every Neon and Chev. Cavalier in town that are at least 4 yrs. old. They all most likely look like ****, they are not quality built cars, they are throw away cars. Do not get stuck in that rut, I'm sorry your friends don't agree with your choice but just because they made the wrong choice does'nt mean you have to. Grant it the Z has it's small demons like every automobile but when your sick and tired of that Neon, it will much harder to sell than a Z.

My friend was consistenly telling me I should get another car instead of the Z, He even didn't like the colour I told him I was going to get (Lemans Sunset). But I was in love with this car ever since it came out, so I bought it anyways.

A week after I bought it and gave him a ride in it, he embarrisngly asked me if it would bug me if he bought a 350Z as well. And he changed his mind about the colour too

I can understand why your friend might mention an SRT4 if he just likes a fast turbo car, but I have no idea why he would prefer a RSX-S instead of a 350Z unless it's about price.

Yea anyway...Im definitely going for the 2004 Z. Well my friend is constantly discouraging me. "Its too heavy"..."It looks like crap"..."It doesnt move"..."go for your 2nd choice and get the rsx type S instead or srt4".

Even if my Z was MUCH SLOWER than the RSX and the SRT4, I would still take the Z. I have no Idea why your friends would even suggest you buy one of those cars over the Z. It really makes no sense. Do they happen to be mentally handicapped in any way?

they don't want to be the guys that hang out with the z owner... they'd prefer you hang out with them (the SS owners)...

I don't know how close you are to your buddies, but there's always jealousy involved in a friendly way... when you guys go out and park together... guess who's car gets the compliments...

After working their asses off to buy a cobalt ss, they don't want to feel their car is less cool than yours... they might even stop hanging out with you coz they feel inferior... HAHAHA

ENYCEPUNJABI
I would not buy a base 04 for any reason xpt to autox it and mod the hell out of it, the price difference between base, enth and touring 04's are not much... you get HID, TCS, cruise control, LSD... look around a bit and you can find a better deal on the enthusiast model for just a grand or two more...

and look for a 04.5 model (they have knee pad cusions beside the center console)... there were changes made that seem to make that a better model vs the 03 and 04.0 (I have an 04.5) the ebay link above is an 04.5 as proved by that knee pad cusion in the pic... it's a good deal as long as there was no structural damage... but resale will be a pain later on...

personally i'd check to make sure the private selling party is the original owner to the title. You don't want to buy a car from someone who buys cars from auctions, turns around selling it for quick two three thousand bucks profit. Most of the time the cars being auctioned off are the ones that the dealers could not get rid of in the first place. Depends on the model and mileage of the vehicles these fly by night operators buy cars two three or four thousands below Nada wholesale at the auctions, thereby they can afford to sell it at close to wholesale on Ebay.

I was reading this thread and thought to myself the ebay deal is too good to be true. I couldn't help but pull up the Carfax for this Z on ebay. MAJOR PROBLEMS! The car has salvage title, rebuilt title, not actual mileage title, and went through 5 different owners in the past 2 years. I'm looking for a Z myself, but this car looks like something to avoid. Hopefully I'll pick up a new one in about 2 weeks. Anyway, below is a summary from Carfax:

CARFAX Talking CarTM
The story of this 2004 NISSAN 350Z (JN1AZ34E64T061037) according to our interpretation of the information reported to CARFAX:
This coupe has had 5 owners and was owned in Washington and Oregon. The first title for this coupe was reported to CARFAX by a Washington DMV in 2004.
It was severely damaged and issued a Salvage title by an Oregon DMV. It was later issued a Rebuilt title by an Oregon DMV, which allows for the vehicle to be repaired and returned to the road.
It was issued a Not Actual Mileage title by an Oregon DMV. This title is issued when the owner discloses mileage fraud or a broken odometer.
It was not reported by a DMV as a Manufacturer Buyback or LEMON.
Its original manufacturer warranty was voided after it was severely damaged.
Go to the Detailed Vehicle History for the complete history and a glossary of terms.

Report Summary
1. ACCIDENT CHECK

Total Loss Check Severe Accident or Total Loss Event Reported by a DMV
Other Accident Indicators No Accident Indicators Reported
2. MILEAGE ACCURACY CHECK

Truth-In-Mileage Check Odometer Problems Reported by a DMV
Odometer Rollback Check No Potential Odometer Rollback Found
Mileage Consistency Check No Inconsistent Odometer Reading Found
3. LEMON CHECK®
No Mfr. Buyback Reported by a DMV
4. OWNERSHIP CHECK

Number of Owners 5 Estimated Owner(s)
Type of Owners Checked 8 Types of Vehicle Registrations
5. RECALL CHECK
NISSAN Does Not Report Recalls to CARFAX
6. WARRANTY CHECK
Warranty Voided

The original manufacturer warranty for this 2004 NISSAN 350Z (JN1AZ34E64T061037) was most likely voided when this vehicle was severely damaged.
CARFAX used time only to calculate the remaining warranty coverage because mileage problems were found in this vehicle's history. See Mileage Accuracy Check.

Estimated start date of warranty: 02/18/2004
Last reading reported on 09/20/2005: 5,424 miles
Today's Date: February 19, 2006

Type of Coverage: Original Warranty: Estimated Remaining Coverage:
Basic 36 months or 36,000 miles Void
Drivetrain 60 months or 60,000 miles Void
Emissions 24 months or 24,000 miles Void
Corrosion 60 months or unlimited mileage Void
Transferable Transferable: no cost, unlimited owners covered. Void

yea my friend does that to the Z as well, he owns a corolla S and he discourages the Z33 model in anyway he can, but all you can really do is really ignore and forget what people say about it and do what you want.

i don't think minor fender benders would be reported to carfax at all.
a car with a salvage title worths only half that of wholesale value if there is no safety issues.

No problem. You can't be too careful buying stuffs on ebay, especially high ticket items like cars. There are a lot of dishonest sellers.

Quite unfortunate ...

After seeing that, I'd pull a carfax on that local 20k deal too ... Carfax is a great $8 investment when we're talking about expensive items like this. There are Dishonest Dealers just as there are Dishonest eBay Sellers.
