I am thinking. more weight on the chasis instead of in the cabin or elswhere.

but the question asked is why is the z heavier. I dont think nissan wants to intentionally make their sports car slower, although they did make the the 06 200lb heavier to please the old farts complaining about noise.

that's why i'm glad to stick with my 03 touring. it weighs 3,180 lbs. i know the touring is supposed to be heavier, but for some reason that is what it weighs

i still cant believe nissan put better tires on the altima SER and not on the Z. baffles me sometimes.

Maybe they expect most of us Z freaks to change rims anyways -or- they were trying to keep the list price of the Z down (so that it compares better in it's class, while that was not such a problem with the Altima)
