I think the answer to your question is the reason we like our Z's so much.

if compare Zs to american cars in the same price range, i guess all of those american cars will beat Zs on power and in straight line, if compare Zs to european cars in this price range, Zs will beat all of those european cars.

 

Seven of your choices are plainly not within the constraints of the original poster's qualifications... "Qualifications would be coupe, rwd, and either a 2 seater or even a 2+2".

Note that a convertible is not a coupe. As a lifelong convertible hater, I can see where this guy is coming from. I had the exact same list of qualifications one year ago when I bought my Z. My choices were the 350z, the BMW 330Ci and the RX8. I'm aware that other cars fall into the category, but didn't entertain them... The GTO and Mustang GT come to mind.

It also seems that used cars are not within his constraints, but I guess he didn't specifically address that.

wow i didn't even think of the mustang gt or gto. ive actually taken a test drive in the gt and really didn't like the feel. anyway i should say i decided before i left that i liked the Z too much to sell it. i just wanted to post the thread to see if there were some cars i wasn't think of.

My car running uber pig rich. It didn't take well to the 40 degree increase in temp here in FL. Mark from SGP is coming out in a week to install and tune the HKS V-PRO. Can you say 600whp?

 

40 degrees??? It was almost 70 today, how hot/cold was it out there? Damn, I figured at least a month before you went back on your promise to be satisifed and play it safe. V-PRO huh???? Full setup???? Another $4-5K???? God bless you. You got your heart in that thing. I keep telling myself I'll be fine at 500whp if I build a Z but I'll end up where you're at anyhow. You don't think the UTEC can take care of you? The UTEC with all the sensors is under $2K I believe. I know SGP really likes that V-PRO though.

It was 49 degrees in Houston when they tuned my car. It was 89 degrees today in Miami.

The UTEC can take car of my needs, but what's another $2000 once you're in as deep as I am? Also I will sell my EU and some other stuff and make up some money there. I just bought my wife some new **** so I can get away with it.

BTW, when I bought my car on 03-28-04 I told myself I wasn't going to change a thing. ha!

When Todd gets his car out I am going to try to meet up with him. That will probably make my decision for me. I have abandoned my 996 idea altogether. Finding a Porsche tuner is bad enough, paying $35K for the engine build alone is crazy. A new tuner opened up shop near my home. There's a string of Vipers in and out of there all day. My options keep getting bigger. Did you see the vid of the 1000+whp Viper on pump gas in the "Other Vehicles" section? I may go big with this next tuner car since it will probably be my last before I have kids and too many responsiblities.
