Default How does the low-end torque of the Z compare to 06 Mustang GT?

Just curious how it stacks up against the new mustang GT V8. I've found 1 dyno of a Z and it seemed to make 200tq at like 1800rpm?

Is that true?

Also, I couldn't find any mustang dyno's where they start that low in the RPM's....

Anyone know?

Put it to you this way.... I smoked one by 1.5 cars about three weeks ago with just the bolt-ons that I've got. I'm sure alot of other have done the same. The Mustangs are no real big deal... But stay away from those Damn SRT-8's...

They suprised the hell out of me the first time. Damn Magnum... Grrrrrrrrrr...

Havok,

That doesn't show below 3500RPM, but looks like the TQ stays right up there throughout the whole powerband.

So it probably gets more tq off the line that the VQ... high RPM's seem pretty dead though....

Guess that my assumption is right....

Unless someone has any other links to dyno's, or anything...

I'd assume the stang should have a decent amount more low end torque given its a lower compression, higher displacement engine.

With a fresh air-filter as part of a cold air intake and tune kit the performance improved to 13.8 at 102.5.

hmm pretty good time, but the 06 z is still faster

torque from teh engine means nothing... the transmission is a torque multiplier so what actually gets to teh ground is dependant on gears and transmission.

Theres really no comparison, if you want torque then the mustang is your choice. The v8 is a different feeling, torque galore but it handles like a mustang.

Z or Mustang?

I can't locate anything specifically for '06, but maybe this will help. Of course, there are many variables: individual driver, each individual car, temperature, altitude, etc. So much for prefacing:

'05 Mustang GT
MT results in 1/4 mile: 13.6 @ 99.9 (11/04)
R&T results in 1/4 mile: 13.9 @ 101.4 (12/04)

'05 35th Anniversary 350Z (rev-up)
R&T results in 1/4 mile: 14.1 @ 101.8
C&D results for an '03 non-rev: 14.1 @101

These are from mags I have at hand. Too lazy to dig in my "library" for more times. But the best published 1/4 mile time I've seen from one of the above sources was for the '03 Z at 13.9. Issues are often raised between the torque loss of the new rev-up motors, though it did add nice hp numbers and greater mod potential...unfortunately Nissan also added weight to the car which didn't help.

It was MT that clocked the '03 Z in the 1/4 @ 13.9

Essentially it comes down to a driver's race. There are a few forum members who have both a Z and Mustang GT...maybe you can get their response. If not, try the search for their comments on this topic.

Okay... I think we've done a pretty good job at trying to answer questions regarding a car that isn't the focus of this forum now how about you tell us what you drive and why can't you find this information out on your own?

If you wanna know detailed information about the mustang why don't you ask the guys in the mustang forums? I'm sure they're more than a few.

And another thing.... That link I provided for you last time was a one-stop-shop for all your mustang information which included a forum. Stop being so freaking lazy.
