Is the LSD worth it really?

^what he said.
Adding a oem VLSD to my car was the single worst waste of mod money in my adult life. For a little more then the $900 total cost I ended up paying, I could have installed the Nismo clutch type, and been MUCH happier. The oem VLSD requires slip before it "tries" to stiffen up and then it will only withstand a very limited amount of torque, I have heard 17% several times. So between the wheelspin it allow's in order to operate and how limited it is, oh well lesson learned.

I have an idea, go to your local circuit racing track and check out the 350z's. Ask one of the mechanics of the team what LSD they are using. I did the same and the answer was: prrrrrrrr...Quaife.

Thanks so far guys... and to the few that said in PA I'll need Traction control... no I won't. This will not be my only car. I have a Blazer 4x4 too that I'd be driving in any type of bad weather. The Z will only see nice days

its a good thing to have, if you drive the car.
as far as an lsd, if you ever plan to drag race, street race, or track race its imperative you have one. one wheel burnouts are not cool, and will kill your times.

The VLSD on all others (R200V LSD) has 4 pinion gears.
Still, the clutch NISMO LSD is far better in distributing the torque left and right than the visous lock mecanism. Then again, the VDC equiped cars have ABLS that will apply brakes to a spinning wheel, assisting the diff in its work.

Obviously the Nismo LSD is better that stock.
But if it were me, I would save up and then pay the extra $1500 for the Enthusiast...you get the LSD (w/ a warranty!) as well as HID's and you don't have to worry about having the Nismo LSD install labor charges.
