Default New to the site couple of questions :)

Hi guys. ive been reading all over this site for the past 4 days. I still have a few questions. that hopefully some people could answer if its not too much. ive tried using the search but havent found some things.

so first some of the common abbreviations you guys use for the 350z problems/ issues can you tell me what they mean and what they are.

so here are a couple of questions.

ive been looking at prices and they range from 20- 25 well i want this to be my price range. i want to get the car this june im in school right now and im going on vacation in may so i dont think i should get it now. Do you think the demand will go up in the summer?? and prices will rise a bit?

Ive been reading the 03 have problems with the front tires does the 04 have these same problems?

Should I buy from a nissan dealership and try to get some kind of full and extended warranty?

Thanks guys anything else i should know please drop in a few lines. I know there are a lot of post asking these same questions but i havent gotten to those yet.

For 350Z reliability see Consumer Reports. Consider if you are shopping for reliable transportation, there are better options other that a high performance sports car.

Demand and prices will increase in the spring yes.

Some of the '04's have been known to have had feathering/alignment issues as well (this topic has been coming up with great frequency lately). Just remember: Nissan corrected the issue under warranty as long as the owner took action to correct it. Mine was done long ago and I have not had a problem since. There have been a few that reported ongoing issues and Nissan took some cars back. Some owners have said that the issue went away just by putting on better tires. Believe it or not, I still have the original Potenzas on the rear and the free replacements from Nissan up front. Not all 03's (or 04's) are problematic once the TSB's were addressed.

Nissan only extended their coverage of the feathering issue to 20,000 miles of ownership on 03 and some 04 Z's. After that, the issue was deemed corrected. I still have the Nissan letter addressing this issue.

Side note: If you buy from a private party and they purchased the extended warranty, they may transfer the warranty over to you, but alignment will NOT be covered as it will be deemed normal wear and tear at this point.

Well, I'll have to put my tail between my legs for the moment for the sake of giving you better info. Seems I was only recalling the letter I received until I decided to act upon it. The following is a quote from a letter I received from Nissan AFTER I had already had Nissan correct my alignment:

"We have since introduced in production a new tire with a slightly modified tread pattern which is more resistant to 'tire feathering.' Vehicles equipped with these tires have experienced virtually no incidents of tire noise. Therefore, as our commitment to you, Nissan is further extending the warranty for alignment to 36 months or October 31, 2005 (whichever comes later), and unlimited mileage for all 2003 models, and to 36 months and unlimited miles for all 2004 350Z models."

The letter continued in greater detail regarding what the extension covered.
