Default Cigar Humidor install?

Thinking of buying a number of second hand cedar cigar boxes and converting a parcel box to a humidor. What do you guys think? Have you seen it done?

I commute 30mi one way to work, I don't smoke unless I drink, and I don't drink unless I'm in the city after work. Which leaves my $500 cigar collection worthless at home on top of my equally worthless fully stocked bar.

No where to put cigars while at work... and theres a $30k Z begging to store some cigars out front all day.

How are you going to explain this if you ever need to pass through customs?

get a travel humidor, they aren't expensive. No matter what you do, don't leave them in the car. Take them inside with you for a controlled enviroment. Also, some quick questions. Are you planning on keeping a mini collection at work (10-20 cigars) or do you plan on taking a couple when you are going out after work? If it is the latter just get a cedar lined case that holds 1-5, they work great and are cheap. Don't build something into the car or leave something in the car, the temp will change too much.

Yeah I was thinking about that too:

How would you control the temperature? I know your cars don't get as hot inside as they do here, but in AZ during the summer cars can get 150F+ when parked outside.

I wouldnt recommend using a cedar wood.... You wouldnt want to 'disturb' your stoggies flavour would you now?
I'd suggest something like Bird's eye Maple wood...

So here's the final on this.. apparently the built in humidor idea sucks... I was thinking I could just line a parcel box with wood and keep a disposable chemical humidifier in there....

Well, turns out the real enemy is the change in temperature. lax91181 was on the spot with this problem. I suppose Z owners are perpetualy obsessed with integrating features in the car when the stand alone would suffice. EG.
DVD/NAV/OBDII monitor vs. Car PC.
Standalone Radar detector vs. stealth mirror install.

Idea scrapped.

i was thinking of the same thing. originally i was thinking of lining the navigation cubby with cedar wood and having a glass front door that opens automatically. due to the fact that i live in so cal and the temperature would get too hot for storing cigars, i too scrapped the idea.

I think the travel humidor is right on. Grab one and stash it in the compartment. When it is hot - pop it in your briefcase. When it isn't - leave it in place.
