I am going to sell my 2006 SIlver 350z AT Touring and replace it with a BMW M3 smg. I drove one the otherday and it was the most fun I have ever had driving a car. The 350z is the best value of an sports car in that performance range but the M3 is the best value in its performance range. And it is just so refined... It kinda sucks becuase I just bought the Z in nov 05. I just hope I can still get 30K for it.

I like the Z but, I hated to Get the AT. And i had to get the AT becuase of my traffic problems. But every friday afternoon after traffic clears, I curse the AT, I want to rattle through the gears. I can't live with the manual, but the SMG delivers the best of both worlds. You can run through the gears (and Im sure it will shift faster and better than any human 80milsec) but there is no clutching. Its is an electro Hydro actuated clutch, attached to the manual 6 speed tranny. The best part is that you can swith it to an automated mode and it will shift for you if you would like. So to sum it up, it is a manual tranny with and automatic mode. And the M3 is in a power class above the 350z.

well the good news is that I don't care about any mods with the exception of FI, but I won't be doing that. It is fast enough for me. And quite honestly the speed\power is not an issue. It is all about the tranny. I never thought that a car with SMG would make you enjoy driving that much. It gives you total control of gear selection, and shift real fast. But when you want to be tame it will automate the system.
So who wants my beautiful 06 350z?

driving MT in rush hour trafffic isn't that bad, just keep it crusing on first or second gear, then you don't need to shift..just play with the clutch and gas to control your speed. sure it cooks your clutch, but that's the perfect excuse for a new clutch plate haha
