you might as well use touch up for now, becuz in a few more weeks, your gonna have more rock chips than you can count. I have so many now that i dont even care anymore. So its not even worth it to repaint the bumper right now

I've had my 06 since October and my bumper looks 4 years old now due to the chips. Should have got the clear bra a long time ago. I am going to repaint mine when I get a new lip added. No biggie...I think the touch up paint will look ok from afar. Quick fix until you get it repainted. I am pretty sure everyone here has the same issues due to the soft paint.

A photo would be helpfull.

There a plenty of suggestions in the detailing forum. The key to touch-up is the base coat. Some members use regular enamel paint, them touch-up on top.

Sounds like it's time for a new custom bumper.

Sorry to hear about your paint chip. At least it isn't a scuffed rim! Well, if I were you I'd get some touch up and just do it since it is only one. You will be able to see how it looks and works so that in the future when you get more rock chips, you will have a better techniques/methods to fix it. Don't stress about the rock-chips...they are bound to happen. You could get clear bra but make sure you get a reasonable price. I asked one place in MD and their price was in the $900s! People told me I could get the bumber painted twice for that price. So yeah...

I was quoted $400 for a clear bra for my bumper. My car is 2 weeks old, no rock chips yet . Do you think is worth it???

$400 for the front bumper sounds resonable. Most places are now charging $600 or less for the complete package (bumper, hood, front fenders and mirrors). Once I have the car repainted I will go with the full package since I also have numerous chips on the front part of the hood. Not worth to get just the front bumper done IMO.

2 questions about these clear bras.

Instead of the paint getting chips, don't the bra's get pitted??

Doesn't that look like crap too?

$400 to buy and have the bra installed?? You can get the front bumper repainted for the same price.

So what's the advantage to the bra?

After 2,000 miles the stock bumper will be pitted and look like a$$ and you pay $400 to have it repainted.

or

You pay $400 first to have the bra installed and it gets pitted and looks like a$$ after 2,000 miles.

What am I missing here?

Either way after 2,000 miles yer out 400 bucks and your front end will look like a$$ anyway??

I think the person that quoted me said it had a lifetime warranty. So if something happens they will replaced it at no charge...

Not sure what you mean by pitted..but if I had to guess...pitted as in dents in the clear bra or something? Well, the clear bra 3M material was originally created for airplane propellers since there was a lot of debris that would cause damage to the propellers. So with that in mind....thats the sort of protection you are getting for your car. So no, it wouldn't get "pitted".

Even if you Clearbra your bumper, the only way to avoid chips 100% is to not drive the car.

What fun is that?

I also have an 06' and got my 3M clear bra right away. I had the Hood, fenders, headlights, front bumper and door edges done for $695. I think its worth it as I won't have to make any stops to the paint shop in the future for a repaint. Plus, it makes me feel less worried when I drive behind a semi truck now.

I had mine installed the day after it came home from the dealer. Here is my 2004.5 at 23,000 miles, no pits or chips and I have seen rocks roll across the front of the hood that would have wrecked any paint. I have replaced the windshield twice.
