Default Keyed cars

so i have always been wondering, exactly why do people key other cars, which cars are most likely keyed and what factors make a car more or less likely to be keyed??

Let me know if you find out.

Here is my "keyed" story: I had just moved to Rochester NY, and the 3rd week here I parked my brand new 20th Anniversary Nissan Maxima in a local bar's parking lot. When I came back at 2:00AM the car had a nice scratch down the entire driver's side.

I didn't even have enough time to make any enemies or ex-girlfriends. WTF?!

Thank you for allowing me to vent,

ohh lamaz that was a huge mistake, see when people drink till the morning they tend to do really stupid things that they normally wouldn'tt have the ***** to do... like keying a maxima

also i would think people would key cars because they are either jealous or have a grudge against the person, or they are just @$$holes to begin with

any car can be keyed... if the person you hated had a hyundai accent, you would probably key his car too.

I don't know why, but I think if your car is dirty it will be less likely to be keyed. I may be wrong, but if the car is not clean it may call less attention.

Haters. Ive had customers come in pay thousands for a flawless refinish, wait two weeks, and their back within a week with their cars keyed bad. People see a nice car that they can't have. So since they can't have it, and you do, they key it to try and bring the appearence of the car down, and you down as well. I'm thinking of inventing an electrical surge over the whole car, so when someone keys it, they get knocked unconcious until you come back, and can give him/her a beat down.

I am also a key victim. My theory is this: When others see a brand new clean, shiny, and waxed 350z they just can't keep their hands off it. If they can't own it, they have to f*ck with it.

Do you accept donations for research and development . I'd buy one!

Let us know to coordinate a group buy.

As basic as I can explain; The person is too much of a PU$$Y to confont another person, and they know it! They are the same person that cut you off on the road and talk shlt to you as they keep driving. It's their way of proving to themselves that they are a bad a$$. My 2 cents.

People who key cars are next to the lowest scum on the Earth. Just above child molestors and just below credit card companies.

I once caught someone keying my Xterra in broad daylight in a Target parking lot in Orlando. He was almost done keying "**** you" when I came up. I didn't know what he was doing and he was startled and took off. When I got up close I saw it and started yelling at him. He took off in an old caprice. I got in the truck and took after him. The police pulled us both over and after I showed the officer what he did, he denied everything and I got a speeding ticket.

I did get his information from the officer and filed a complaint with the county, turns out the 18 year old kid has been caught before. I called his parents and asked them to pay for the repairs. They were about the biggest redneck poor pieces of **** I have ever seen. They said it was his mistake and he'd have to pay for it since they didn't have the money.

I asked him to pay for it and he was "resistant" to say the least. I asked why he would do that to my truck and he wouldn't tell me. Instead he threatend my life and threatened to rape my wife. (In front of his POS parents no less)

I found out he worked for a vendor of ours and told them what happened so they found a reason to fire him.
He went to unload trucks at another vendor which I was friends with their dock foreman. One night the foreman called me and asked me to come by while he was hand unloading a truck. I politely pulled the trailer from the dock and closed and locked the doors. Then I pulled the trailer out in the back of their storage lot, parked the back against the steel security fence, put a kingpin lock on the trailer and went home.

I drove by the next morning and saw the trailer was in the same spot, and again when I went home that night. I'm not going to assume anyone let him out but I never heard about it from the manager or anywhere else. But when I moved from Florida at the end of the summer, that trailer was in the same spot. I sure hope his parents care enough about him that they bothered to check on him at work.

I think this is a psychological question that belongs in the lounge but..

keying is vandalism, and vandalism is rooted in a poor self-image. A person attempts to improve his self image by destroying others property.

Another primary factor is impressing peers. Vandalism is not a lone sport but usually done in groups. The vandal gets kudos and acceptance from the group.

There is actually a way you can do that but what if a small child touched your car and they were electrocuted. Well I guess that would teach that kid

Well no, you could make in a way where if just a key touched the car it would shock the person, but if you were to touch it with bare hands, wouldn't do a thing. Could even make it so when they start scratching they get so shocked they stay in the same standing position as they started, so everyone walking by before you can make it back, can see what a ***** he is . I'm getting to working on this idea

So what the heck's the point of owning one of those Ferraris or Lambos if this is just going to happen all the time?

why not just invest in a damn good camera system that captures every angle of the car and videotape it for 24 hours.. cause im sure with the electric system thing.. some moron is gonna get shocked and sue you.

anyways... I got keyed back in High School parking lot.. (hood, a lil on front bumper, left front fender, left door, left tail fender) reason was the damn kid hated my 1/3 Z in the parking lot.. poor kid turned out to be a student of chemistry class i TA... lets just say he didn't pass. and got a serious beatdown during his grad. night
