Thumbs up

Finally a glowing review!

I drove base, track and touring models with manual and automatic transmissions--and can say that in all versions, the new Z is a blast to drive, a huge improvement over Zs that came before it and a worthy competitor in the sports car segment.
And this is interesting... I thought ZISME tried to dispell this before??

A Z roadster is coming in February.

I agree that this is a very positive article, but it seems to me that all the reviews about the Z have been positive ... ceptin that bimbo that called the Z sluggish. There has been nothing I have read in any article that has made me doubt my decision to buy the Z for even a nano-second (although I wasn't happy with the inaccurate weight numbers in C&D).

I don't recall ZISME ever denying that a convertable was coming out next year and I tend to search for his posts. Although I guess it is possible that I missed it.

Well I really didn't like the first counterpoint in the C&D article, where the guy says "I should be gaga over this, but I'm not".

Once the newness factor wears off, I want to be sure the car's still going to be a blast. So far the LA Times article is the only one I've read that hasn't said "it's good for the price".

Yeah, I just searched again over on that "other site" and couldn't find anything, other than him ignoring the issue.

The C&D review was so-so. Great for $27K. but for $35K if he could get a killer deal on a Vette...

BTW not to rain on the Z but GM is trying to give away the vette.. with 0% finance for 36 monhts. I may look at the vette, but im still in favor of the Z.

I thought about the Vette too but the Z just looks better and
there are a million Vettes on the road and NO Z's yet!

This probably isn't a factor in most peoples decision, Z vs. Vette, but the insurance costs on a Vette are a lot higher than those of the Z.

GM may be willing to deal on the Vette, but most GM dealers won't.

all you get are the factory discounts the dealers won't give up any f their markup...at least in my experience.

I am going to look today, this dealer has 6 Z06's and like 12 regular vettes. all at $4000 below MSRP

If that's true; meaning no catch or other dealer B/S; i would very seriously consider the Vette over the Z. I owned a 1997 C5 and it was great.

In fact, I wanted to get back into a Vette (currently have a 2000 Tahoe) but the dealers around here weren't willing to deal at all. In February, GM was offering 5.9% APR for 5 years plus $2k rebate, I offered every nearby dealer $1,500 over invoice plus the manufacturer incentives and no one was willing to sell me a car.

Did anyone notice that in both the main article and the "7 Levels But Few Options" article that the author incorrectly listed the base as coming with a five-speed manual? Both articles are dated July 3.

I emailed the author, John O'Dell, about the misprint. He replied about five minutes later to say that he couldn't believe he had made such a mistake. He said he would get a correction into the paper's regular correction section tomorrow and a correction in next Wednesday's Highway 1 section.

His response was apologetic. I think he knows how much this car means to us.

Maybe someone in San Diego can post the article if it is not online or the link if it is.
