LA Times Article
Finally a glowing review!
And this is interesting... I thought ZISME tried to dispell this before??
I drove base, track and touring models with manual and automatic transmissions--and can say that in all versions, the new Z is a blast to drive, a huge improvement over Zs that came before it and a worthy competitor in the sports car segment.
A Z roadster is coming in February.

I don't recall ZISME ever denying that a convertable was coming out next year and I tend to search for his posts. Although I guess it is possible that I missed it.

Once the newness factor wears off, I want to be sure the car's still going to be a blast. So far the LA Times article is the only one I've read that hasn't said "it's good for the price".

The C&D review was so-so. Great for $27K. but for $35K if he could get a killer deal on a Vette...
BTW not to rain on the Z but GM is trying to give away the vette.. with 0% finance for 36 monhts. I may look at the vette, but im still in favor of the Z.

In fact, I wanted to get back into a Vette (currently have a 2000 Tahoe) but the dealers around here weren't willing to deal at all. In February, GM was offering 5.9% APR for 5 years plus $2k rebate, I offered every nearby dealer $1,500 over invoice plus the manufacturer incentives and no one was willing to sell me a car.
Did anyone notice that in both the main article and the "7 Levels But Few Options" article that the author incorrectly listed the base as coming with a five-speed manual? Both articles are dated July 3.

I emailed the author, John O'Dell, about the misprint. He replied about five minutes later to say that he couldn't believe he had made such a mistake. He said he would get a correction into the paper's regular correction section tomorrow and a correction in next Wednesday's Highway 1 section.
His response was apologetic. I think he knows how much this car means to us.
