Are test pipes illegal since the only ones I seen delete your cats? What kind of gains did you see with those pipes? Are they loud as hell?

Yes, they are. I'm weary about doing them b/c I don't think I want to just keep swapping setups...maybe highflow cats and a catback in the future.

Does anyone know if the Megan Cat Deletes will throw off the OBD-II in our Z's? Or can we just install them and be done with it?

Rumor has it if you have an 03 or early 04 and the test pipe still retains the 02 sensor (which everyone I've ever seen does), then the OBD-II won't throw code. If you have an 04.5, 05, 06... you might get a code.

are you saying the test pipes on the 03 and early 04 are made different than the newer models?

no, but the ecu wont throw a CEL on the earlier years. the newer ones will get a check engine light if you run test pipes. the pipes looks the same, its a difference in ECU

i guess this is sorta related to the topic with test pipes i have always read that it does not increase performance on a N/A car due to the loss in pressure....is this not true for the Z, wouldn't it drop torque as well???

Had them for a bit and love them. That smell is a combination of the factory sealent burning off and the engine adapting to the change in readings. Takes about three weeks for it to mostly go away. Anything you smell after that is just pure bad%%s car. The gains are there, Anytime you give a car more room to breath its better, where you have to worry about backpressure is if you start bumping up pipe sizing along side straight through all the way back. If you still have any sort of muffler your just fine. Im going to dyno the car with JUST the test pipes on it along side a stock Z setup so we can see the gains here at alltitude. Ill post something once thats done (counting the days till april 1st)
