Default i cant stand looking at my car anymore.

seriously every time i do i find a new scratch or dent. its depressing. before this i was driving a blazer and seriously it doesnt have anything on it. the paint is like friggin rhino skin. body is hard as hell as well.

i know the z is a sports car, thinner panels, sits low ect but man this really sucks. i parked my car at the mall for work, come back and find this crap. i have no idea how the hell this happened as well. i can guess it was due to some inconsiderate ****.

a clear bra is installed but i think the indent went into the bumper as well. at least this gives me an excuse to get a nismo bumper to replace this. plus the cost of getting it painted and a new clear bra. meh. not to mention 2 days ago a main road i travel everyday was covered with these 1 inch rocks. of course some car in the opposite lane kicked one up and smacked my side front fender. 1 inch scratch all the way down and a small dent.

Im sorry man. When I still had my WRX it was really low to the ground too and i hated to look at it. That dent or whatever it is looks really odd. There arent any scrathes or anthing? Looks like someone just made a crease.

I hear you, man. My Z is feeling the pain, too. I didn't get a clear bra because I believe that I shouldn't have to spend an extra $1000 to prevent the car from chipping. Silly me. With only 4500 miles on the odometer, I've got chips on almost every body panel. Granted, they're small, but they don't bode well for the future of the car. What's it going to look like after 40K miles?!

The Z is my 5th car and I've never had a car that chipped before. Don't get me wrong, I love the car, but I don't understand why the paint is so weak. It has to do with cost cutting. I've read comments about new regulations requiring paint to have less lead in it, but why doesn't this problem affect every new car, if that truly is the reason?

im in the same boat as you. got 4700 miles on her now and chips everywhere! i dont even wanna know at 40k. I wonder how Jim's Z looks. I remember seeing he had 50k on her. 0_0

yeah these regulations suck. if only there was a place that would give me a 'proper' (as much LEAD or whatever else is in there) i would get it.

well from what i can tell no scratches on the paint but the bra is definitely dented. its indented so i think if i were to tear off the bra it would be on the bumper as well.

and yeah it does look odd. im hoping it wasnt a deliberate act but even a shopping card would not be able to damage the front like that.....

I got a very strange indent very identical to that on my front bumper also. Seems like some idiot went and backed up into my Z. It's located right under the emblem, though. In between the two license plate holes.

Heh.

Welcome to the wondeful world of the Z where the only thing that wears out faster than the tires and paint is your patience. Enjoy your stay!

Dont sweat it at all man. Sometimes I get really obsessive over my car. Want it to be perfect. But i remember someone said on here "if you want a show car, park it in your garage like a corvette owner and look at it all day." I think about that quote whenever I get a new scratch. Moving on....one thing I learned from my older brother (about the only thing I learned from him) was when you're seeing all the little nicks etc and stuff on your car. Step back 10 feet and look at the car again. If it looks good from there, it looks good. I apply this to certain aspects of my life in certain situations to this day. And I still remember the silver '83 280zx turbo 5spd he drove

Anyway
These things happen man. When something breaks, fix it.

Me? I paid $34k for this car. I am going to enjoy it and drive it everywhere. Only one life

I wonder if the color of the car has anything to do with it.

I have a Brickyard and have maybe one or rwo very small chips, and I've been hit by a number of rocks. Also had a few biggies hit the windshield and no damage yet. Of course, now that I've said this I'll get all dinged up tomorrow. 30,000 miles BTW.

I only have a few very minor chips on the front of my bumper. The windshield is what really makes my heart sink though. The 3rd day I owned the car I was driving down the highway and a small rock hit the windshield and left a mark. Since then countless more have showed up but I don't worry about it anymore. Down the road when it gets really bad I will have the windshield replaced with something other than Nissan glass.

I am getting small chips too on my front bumper as well as two small chips on the weak winshield. Mine is a daily driver.

If you have a darker color like black or brickyard it will not show the chips as much because the small chips are black.

I'm thinking about getting the bumper painted over and clear coating the hell out of the whole car.

I've said this before, and I'll say it again...

This is exactly why I don't bother anymore... it's a street car, and therefore is destined to get smacked by flying objects and/or other retards on the road (America is full of a sea or idiots). After I hit a fox, I gave up trying to maintain a perfect condition of the car. Since then I've gotten a door ding, gotten hit by a baseball, hit 8 other animals, gone agricultural racing 3 times, developed a nice 10" crack on the windshield from a mysterious rock (that's below my windshield wiper), etc. Mine is a street car turning track warrior, so at least I know mine is used... Anyways, my point is that while your experience might be frustrating, get used to it. As long as your car sees the street, this **** is going to happen. The more you lament over it and worry about it, the worse you're going to feel. Not worth expending so much mental energy over this, as it's going to happen again.
