the golf gti and the 350z are very different cars. if you are just asking for opinions than its clear that most of us love the 350z. if you are asking when the next Z is coming than maybe you should consult Nissan directly. Either way, i don't believe you will find your answer on this forum.

p.s. American forums hate bad English grammar, so don't be surprised if you get flamed.

It would be fairer to compare the Golf R32 against the 350Z, but even then they are different cars. If you want more practicality and four wheel drive go for the golf.

Maybe coming from OTHER uneducated Americans, but the thread starter is clearly from another country.

Anyone with a brain can understand and respect that.

wow. a member since 10/04, but this is your first post? you should be an expert on the z by now. there's another recent thread about a guy's new black gti, and a comparison between it and the z. search is your friend, but you know this already.

I’d go with the 350z because it is more mature, refined, and powerful.

If you are younger, early 20s or something, then the vw maybe right for you because it is designed to be driven by folks in your age group. The Z can be used in a number of different ways: (1) a primary car for a 30 something (like me), (2) a toy for dad in a house hold w/ a few cars, (3) a toy for mom and dad when they want to get away from the kids (I’ve seen this with the drop top Z), and (4) on and on.

I only have one car – the Z. It is great for my girlfriend and I, but as things get serious we are thinking about replacing her civic with a Lexus RX or Murano. I occasionally think about getting rid of the Z, but she is adamant about keeping it.

However, I would LOVE to have all-wheel drive on my car. About once every 4 months, I wish for a back seat.

As for your choice, talk to as many people as possible.

Side note: Don’t worry about some queen of grammar punk b!tch. Such a person is a miserably pathetic presence who should be b!tch slapped for being a b!tch.

Go test drive both cars

Do you need all wheel drive or is RWD OK?

Is it your daily driver?

How much room do you need inside the car?

Which looks better to you?

How do they compare in price?

How much is Insurance?

Gas mileage?

Creature comforts, which has more of what you like?

my friend just got the gti and the car's pretty sweet. interior is better than the z, obviously more space, and the dsg trans is awesome if you're into button shifting. i've never seen shifts that fast.

i'd get the gti, unless you need/want a really fast car or RWD.

My experience with VW is horrible. The problem is there are so many variations within the same model due to different outsourcing that getting parts is a problem. For example, our car was put in the shop for body work in April and I received it back in August. The problem was getting parts. I told my wife if I ever considered a VW again to hit me in the head with a ball bat. Another issue is they make changes during the year on specs. For example, they changed valve lash settings during one year and many owners experienced burnt valves due to the different specs on early and late model editions. Now my disclaimer. This is my experience only. Other people may have different experiences.

This is true. Electronically VW is horrible as well. there are always issues of windows not working, the wiring in the car is a nightmare, and stuff is always shorting out.

+ 1 million. VW have a horrible reliability record, not to mention their build quality. I'll never forget my VW Scirocco. Bought it brand new in the mid 80's (I know, that's eons ago, and things are different now). When I got it home, I noticed that the left and right side door handles were different. The left one was black, the right one was chrome. About a week later, the fuse box fried while I was driving. The smell of electronic components burning stayed in the car for months. Like the guy said a few posts above, if I even ever consider buying another VW, I need someone to hit me in the back of my head with a 2x4.

I switched from 2001 jetta GLS to 06 Z Touring. I love it. I will never buy VW again, they are piece of junk. The engine check light came on all the time. The eletronic problem happened pretty often. If you get a VW, god bless you.

I bought my first and last VW when I turned 22. It was an 02 GTI 337. The turbo was pretty cool and it was fun to drive. Downside was that something went wrong every other month. Plus, this thing rattled and creaked like a old wooden boat lol. So, I got rid of the VW and got me an 06 Z. All I can say is this car is 100x's better in every way imaginable. GL

I had a 337 as well as a 97 VR6. It was a good car, but definately had it's down sides. The freakin transmission mount broke because it was the worst design I've ever seen. It did creek and the check engine light was always coming on. Not to mention is you like modding your car. VW dealerships are the worst for trying to void your warranty. No negotiation about it at all.
