Default Whats up with the south

Hey, I live in New Orleans and I ahve always been into the street scene (racing, showing, etc.) I love working on my car ( when I have the money), but theres a problem. Besides exhahust, rims, bodykits, and sound, nobody down here touchs there imports. Why is there no real street racing scene down here, like on the east and west coasts?? We have no real performance shops or anything. It might be because we have bed roads, but we have good ones too. I'm looking for a scene like in fast and the furious. I know its a movie, but I know on the coasts there are scenes like that. Where's ours??

We have a shop in here in Baton Rouge that put my TN kit on, and does a lot of kits on Hondas. Airline Auto Center. Ask for Loc.

Wow I expect you'll be getting some negative replies later on today. Why would you risk jail time/car impoundment/ huge wrecker bill ect. for streetracing.

One reason there are almost no modified cars is that there is no money in New Orleans. Not trying to put down the city, I grew up there, but 1.5M people in the metro area and 1/3 of them live on government assistance! There was a place off Veterans near Clearview in Metairie that I won't name, they would sell you parts during the day and then come steal them back that night!

Yeah, I'm not saying I want to be Paul Walker or see Vin Diesel driving around....I was just trying to give an example. But, I do like both movies. But, yall know what I'm sayin right??? I think we need to change something and get something started. Yeah, theres not a lot of money, but I think if a few people start, more will follow. Thanks to everybody, I might have to drive to houston on weekend and check it out.

most people dont know but the gulf coast has got some really tight rides. i was leaving the casino's 3 weeks ago and ran into a turob prelude, srx sti, and an srt-4. they just arent roaming the streets like in big cities. i'm going to spring fling in panama city this weekend and its going to be crazy. i'll take some pic's and post them for ya'll to see what the south can do.

Baton Rouge has a few shops such as Lightning Motorsports. Another reason that LA doesn't have a large "street racing" scene is that it has a huge motorcycle population and money is poured into that. There is a large "street racing" motorcycle scene if you are into that.............................kinda like the movie TORQUE (hehe)

yeah there is always a $hit load of bikes around here. usually we would watch them race on the causeway and do stunts. one dude fell and his buddies had to take him to the hospital he was pretty banged up.
