Question Car covers -- which one to get???

Hey everybody - I'm looking for some help on car covers. I need to get a cover for the Z, as she sitsoutside all the time but is only driven on the weekends.

I know there are a few options out there and I wanted opinions from people that have used or sen them before. I live in Altanta, GA -- so the weather is usually (not lately) pretty tame -- Winter averages in the 35-45 range and summer in the 90-100 range. Snow is rare, some freezing rain happens occasionally. I don't park under a lot of trees (one small hardwood tree close by, but not very big) so sap isn't a huge concern.

It just needs to stand up to rain, sunlight, and occasional bird droppings. I usually only dirve the car on weekends, so it needs to be protected while it is waiting or its next chance to thrill me

1. Nissan's cover -- the logo'd one (from Courtesy Nissan or dealer, etc.) -- too light and too thin?? Anybody have this?

2. I know some other brands came up, but I couldn't find anything in the Forum Search. Prices/opinions needed!!

Thanks!

Ryan

Is that NOAH car cover as good as this one: http://www.courtesyparts.com/Merchan...Code=350Z-CVER

I mean the courtesy parts one looks like it is made out of a good not scratching material. Also can you lock up the NOAH one like the courtesy parts one.

the two car covers are made by the same company... covercraft . there's a chart on their website; from what i recall, the courtesyparts one has two weaknesses: doordings and protecting from sunlight. it has the MAJOR benefit of being SIGNIFICANTLY less dense, and therefore easier to pack up.

Default Ultraguard from AUTOANYTHING.COM

I picked up the Ultraguard cover from autoanything.com. It has a better rating than the Nissan cover (Weathershield cover). The ultraguard has better breathability and has better protection against door dings. Its made by Coverking and its manufacturers name is the Stormshield. Costs more but I think its worth it. Paid 235.00 with one of their coupons.

It has pockets for the mirrors and an opening for the antena. The antena doesnt get covered completely... its exposed.

It looks like a really good cover. Thanks for the link. What do you mean by "the antena doens't get completely covered"?

Does it have a hole for the antenna?

Thanks,

Ryan

PS - the best coupon I found was $20 off right now. Do you know what coupon code you used?

The cover has a hole for the antena, but unlike the Nissan one which actually has a pocket for the antena, part of my antena will be exposed to the elements. No biggie.

As for the coupon... I think that was the same one I used for 20 bucks off.

I shopped around recently for a car cover as well - you might also check out BigSkyCarCovers.com - they don't have a price list on the website, but they'll email you a quote lickity split and they have a zillion materials to choose from.

Two friends of mine at work have covers from them in Weathershield - very nice, very small logo in the very front.

The quote I got from them for the Z cover in Weathershield was @$230.

Moving to a bigger house.. so I'm selling it. If no one off here buys it, I'll end up ebaying it with the starting bid at 170 to make up for ebay costs.. so someone, buy it!

No Thanks. I can get a discount through Courtesy Nissan (their price is $198...not $220) so it will be within a few bucks IF I even want to go with that cover.

Thanks for the offer though.

I'd buy your cover, but I don't have my Z yet. Maybe in a few weeks.

The Nissan one is working very well for me. I've had it outdoors in high winds (you have to tie the included rope underneath) and snow, and no problems. It was really hard to get on the car the first time, but now is very easy. I've also washed it and dried it in my washer and dryer and that was very easy also.
