What about if it came in either a 6MT or a 6 speed SMG? That would be a tough decision for me.
Those cats in their SMG M3's banging those gears up and down with the paddle shifters at the track are tough to hang with. Mostly on the down-shifts since the computer automatically blips the throttle for them. Sounds awesome. Me, I gotta do it the old fashion way -- heel-n-toe...

They have never put it in S6 mode while I was in the car. The SMG Launch control is cool -- like an F1 car waiting for the lights to go out.
But yea. I hear you. It would still be a tough decision for me though I would think. Mostly because the very reason I got my Z was to run it out on the track...
I notice alot of peeps believe that a "true" sports car is only a manual and someone even went so far to call AT drivers "auto-wusses"... Shame shame shame.
I could care less what you think a sports car is or isn't. As a former truck driver for several years, I can tell you this... Driving a stick Z is no accomplishment. If you believe otherwsie, quit fooling yourself. Try shifting through twice as many gears, towing 40 tons and with an engine putting out over 2k in torque. An automobile stick is mere child's play.
Also, I have a friend back in my hometown who owns an AT sports car. He does it because he only has one arm. Of course he can also drive a stick, but it is much more difficult for him to do so. I guess by the logic some of you have, he shouldn't deserve to drive one???
How you about you drive what you like, I'll drive what I like and leave it at that. Trying to impose your views on what is and what isn't a sports car, based merely on the tranny is idiotic. Last I heard, we all own Z's... Maybe I was wrong?

Us 57 year olds do struggle a bit with the clutch and shifter: coordination isn't quite up to par with you young bucks.
BTW would you like to race?

And lets not forget my failing vision and reflexes. Take for example the Karousel at Summit Point, WV. I may as well pull to the side and let you young hot dogs pass.

What im saying is even though you bought the auto would you buy the manual if the auto wasn't an option? I was at a dealership over christmas and was looking at the 06s. There were 7 of them and they were all automatics. I asked the salesman were are the 6 spds. He told me that they sell autos the most. Some people who bought the Z can drive a manual but bought the auto. What Im asking is if the auto wasn't avalible would you still buy the car.
I know it sounds like a broken record but its the best I could explaining the purpose of the poll without giving someone a headache because I have one just thinking of the explanation lol.

There are better options for automatic cars out there, like a luxury car of some sort. If my mindset was set on convenience and praticality, I would have went with a more practical and all around effortless car. That's just me though.
On another note:
In 10+ years or so, what do you guys think will be more desired or have the better resale value?
AT = luxury cars and everyday cars
MT = sports cars (this is a must or it's a shame!)
Resale in the future may be in favor of ATs because most people don't know how to drive a MT and this will get worse and worse over the years. Personally, I like MTs because YOU are driving the car. Anyone can push the gas pedal!

LOL!
I think that Mario Andretti [66y], Phil Hill [79y] or Paul Newman [81y] might disagree with you!
P.S. "Good Engwish"
