New information on Z production.
I went to the Nissan dealership at Rosenthal Nissan in Tysons Corner yesterday and I was talking to a salesman about the Z. We talked for a little bit and I asked him what advantages the Z has over the G35 Coupe. He listed a bunch, which didn't catch my attention too deeply, but then he told me the Z would be a limited production car, where as the G35 Coupe was going to be a full time production car. I questioned him on that, telling him I heard otherwise. He informed me that it would be a full production of 30,000/year or so for a few years, but then the Z production would stop, then convinced me to buy a Z now, so in 5 years it would be worth a lot more since it would be out of production.
Anyone know the latest update on this? I've heard multiple stories now. 1) Its a full time production car and not going to stop for a long time... 2) Its a very limited car and won't even hit 30k/year 3) It would be a 30k/year production for only a few years..
Personally I hope it's a 30k or less/year for a few years. I love the Z, but it's so nice not seeing so many on the road, you feel more special with all the looks.

Basically, you can't believe ANYTHING a dealer tells you. They'll say anything to get you to buy now.
Let me ask you this. Why would Nissan spend all this time and money redeveloping the Z if they're only going to run a few years? They're trying very hard to regain market share, and that's not the way to do it.
The only thing I believe is what comes from Nissan headquarters, and that's that they will make 30k a year indefinitely. Until they come out and make a change, I don't buy into the rumors.

Very true. That's why I questioned him about it. He seemed very honest on all other things so I did have a doubt. And the only reason I could see to why Nissan might stop making the Z after a few years is because if the Z became a 30k/year every year car, naturally it's popularity would decrease over time, and to keep it popular, they might want to limit supple. Basically the theory of Supply and Demand. Plus it would lead to a high demand for the next Z, if it's a continuous car, the next Z34 might not be as popular. For example..
Z32 - If the Z32 production wasn't stopped, I don't believe the Z33 would be as popular as it is.. it would still be popular, but not as much I don't believe.
Mazda RX7 - Limited also, resale value is still very high for the car, and the legacy it left behind was great, leaving people to want the new version, RX8 (althought in my opinion it's a dissapointment)
Toyota Supra - Limited also, resale value is very high for it, and when the new Supra comes out, I'm sure it will be a frenzy..
Basically a marketing tactic to raise demand?

Now here's another story that's been told. Yes, 30,000 for the first year and production will drop to 20,000 per year after that. Not sure what I believe anymore, but 20,000 - 30,000 per year isn't that many units.
This car will not be made indefeniately I can tell you this right now. But count on the next 5 yrs at 30,000 for sure maybe 7.
Look at the production of the 300zx, Supra, rx7, 3000gt. These are all the same cars basically. I don't mean specs wise. But play the same part in each company.
