Is your name Paul? Is your last name Walker? If so, then get a lightning...

totally different flavors dude.
Lightnings are bad *** trucks. . . . but still a truck. My friend has one that prob like 500whp and handles like its on rails(for a truck) and its mean as hell. i love it. Would I take one over a Z? LIkely not. Yes, you can tow with it, but will you? Likely not.

I traded a lightning for a Z 5 months ago. The lightning was fun and great looking for a truck. Very powerful but....10miles to a gallon on premium at $3.55 per? I am very pleased with my Z. In 5 months I've done a ton of things to it. I'm really enjoying the speed and handling...as well as 20 mpg!

Which would you do? I want both.....
Maybe a Lightening with a Z for a hood ornament. LOL..... Z of course ..... rent a truck when you need to tow. Get the better gas mileage for daily and rent when you need to..... That's what I say.

Or, buy a Z and one of these for a lot less:

It might not be a Lightening .... but the coolness factor is still there and parts are cheap. ;-) It still built FORD tough!

I sold my lightning about 6 months ago and bought a 2004 Z. Great truck but I was sick of getting 8-9 mpg. You get 12 gallons per mile if you just drive it normally and if you have a lightning trust me you wont. Buying a lightning for tow capacity in my opinion is insane. The truck was built to go fast. Also since they dont build them anymore since 2004 you will have a very hard time finding one not abused and worn out motor and tranny wise. Expect to buy a motor around 60,000 miles if you baby motor and dont race. If you race it or drive very hard have a New Motor/Tranny bank account reserve ready to be used any given day.

I loved my 2004 Black Lightning and sold it at 15,000 miles so the next guy can pay the soon and upcoming maintenance costs (new motor, tranny, etc...) Im very happy with the Z and laugh everytime I pay $45 per month to fill up my tank compared to the $360 per month on the lightning. Goodluck either choice means you will have a very nice ride. The lightning will just cost you alot more money to operate. I hope you have a good job.

Have fun

I am not surprised by your opinion at all.
The lightning would like great next to your f-body in the trailer court parking lot.

The lightnings are fast no doubt. I was playing around with one on the interstate about a year ago. I would say it was pretty damn even between my Z and the lightning cruising in the 80mph to 110mph range. No way the lightning "crushes" the Z.

I agree, top end, they aren't all that. However, expect a spanking for a stock or
lightly modded Z from a dig or low roll.

They aren't my cup of tea though.

Has it accrued to anyone that 350_400 is gone never to return?
