From everything I've read on the froums about the MT in the 350z/G35 it would seem there not built that good. I would have to suggest a AT for that reason alone, they seem to be more bulletproof then the MT's

So far I have yet to read any problems with the AT in the 350z/G35's

Why buy a sports car without manual? Shifting is a big part of the fun of driving.

I have an AT and when we were out in Wilmington this wkend I was glad when someone called me or when i we were incredibly lost. I always drive it in Manual mode because it is fun and i know why people like sticks but there are so many times I even forget I can put it back in auto and try to fumble around with my phone or a cd etc. I do however hate it in auto mode because its so ****ing slow. I'll probably get a manual next time but for my first Z I like the auto. Plus this thing is a ***** to drive on ****ty roads with is all NC has apparantly. Especially on those like two lane two way highways with holes and **** the size of mars. Overall I say convince nissan to give us a dsg or that bimmer one they use. Basically I love driving a stick but I ****ing hate clutches.

Good luck either way.

HP gains can be made whatever choice you make I feel. It's mostly how involved do you want to be in driving.

With the auto' manual modes it's nice and I can be involved when I choose.

Decide what you need it for and where you live. You want to race, you want to control everything about your car, get an MT. You want to want to kill yourself in your city's heavy traffic, you want to replace your clutch and possibly your tranny, get an MT. It all depends on what you need it for. Personally, I have driven both, and I chose the AT because of what I needed it for. Granted, its not as fun as the MT, but I can still perform in it while in my manual mode.

Mercedes SLR McLaren... only available in AT... one question to everyone who is bashing ATs: Why is one of the worlds leading supercars only available in AT if every sports car should be MT? Hmmm... Bottom line is, if you know how to use it, your AT could be just as fast if not faster than your friends MT, especially if he's like 75% of everyone driving an MT and can't drive it right (even though they think they can.) Want to control ur car, get MT. Want to play it safe but have the power to do what you want, AT is the way to go. Either way you will enjoy your new Z, i promise you...

i think more like sports cars in GENERAL should be MT, not ALL sports car are MT. just because one supercar is an AT doesnt mean the other is as well. i know some ferraris, the bugatti, as well as some others are "automatic" but porsche and lamborghini tend to stray towards the MT side of the spectrum. just drive both and see what you like better. thats why its called a test drive.

Exactly... try both. MT is not for all people. AT is not for all people. Not saying that sports cars should all be MT, or all be AT or anything... but the fact that some supercars are only available in AT shows you that it is possible to have a performance car with an AT. MT allows you to "drive" the car. It's all in what you like and what you need it for...

Virtually every Mercedes now are only available in AT. It's not because they're better, it's because what Mercedes' clients want.

A lot of Mercedes customers want luxury, not the hassle of shifting.

A friend and I drove the BMW M5 and the E55. While the E55 has monster horse power, I really was disappointed by the automatic tranny.

The M5 is a true driver's car, with its manual tranny.

I'll say this all day long - unless you're driving a car with a F1 tranny, the automatic tranny will always play second fiddle to a manual tranny.

The only auto I would ever consider would be something close to a F1 tranny (ie Ferrari).

Gheyest comment ever, if you love driving stick, you dont complain about using a clutch EVER. My guess you one of those people who hate stick in traffic, hills etc, I have never 1X ever hated manual tranny under an circumstance....

Reason most exotics come in AT is because the people who can actually afford 150k sports car (50+ age) don't want a Manual Transmisison... To be honest as I get closer to 40 myself Im starting to lean towards AT cars, even tho both my G35 and 350z are MT's at the moment.

Thats because your in your early 20's, wait until you hit your late 30's then see how you feel about it...

When I was younger I thought that same way you did, anyone driving a AT is a wuss, but now im pushing 40 the AT's are starting to look cooler
