Red face To Get A Manual 350z Or To NOT!!!

Guys, some of you probably know that I'm in the market to get a Z. Now there have been a lot of thoughts about the car. Some of you say get a Manual Z some say get the Auto since it has the Tip tronic option. Now I know that a manual car is fun BUT lets only focus on the Z's Manual factor. I've been reading and a lot of you are not happy with your cluthes for some reason. Also keep in mind that I'm a newb when it comes to manual and this car will be the car that I will be learning it on. So with that, do you still suggest that I go with Manual or go with Automatic for this particular car. Why or why not?

Manual hands down....Z was my first stick car and haven't regreted it yet. Shouldn't be too hard to learn on...just takes a little practice. You'll be thankful you chose it in the long run.

manual is fun... i chose AT cause its more convenient.. too much traffic here in LA.. im too lazy... AT transmission can be just as good as MT.. and i like to keep a hand free

all in all.. its all your choice. sacrafice a lil fun for easiness, or fun fun fun traffic pain fun fun fun

another thing is.. if you ever plan on FI, prob stick to MT..

All depends on where and how you drive.

-Auto If you commute and have a lot of stop and go traffic
-Manual if you enjoy "driving" your car

HP gains can be made whatever choice you make I feel. It's mostly how involved do you want to be in driving.

Myself I had a manual car previously and just got tired of being so involved driving because of the traffic around here. With the auto' manual modes it's nice and I can be involved when I choose.

Yeah I think Auto is the way to go for VA. I live in va too and Id rather have my right hand in my girl's pants than on the gear.

i've owned a 91 Mustang GT, 92 Z32 TT, and a 98 SS Camaro. All were automatics. I've never had as much fun driving a car until I got my manual Z. When I get bored, I go drive my Z now. Never had that urge with any of my other cars. Manual if you wanna drive your car, automatic if you want ride in it.

Learning MT on the Z is no big deal.

Drive both; choose one.

I'll stall if I drive a Manual car and be ashamed in front of the sales person!!! My dad has to bring it home and teach me until I can do it myself.

I learned to drive a manual with my Z and love driving it in low traffic areas, but in heavy traffic it can be a pain.

Before I bought my AT Z I test drove a MT. First time I'd driven a stick in over 7 years. I stalled it ohh...probably five times..hahah...Who cares. Either you can drive it or you'll need to LEARN how to drive it. A good buddy of mine came up to work last week in a PPW Roadster, 6 spd the dealership had given him to test out. He told me he couldn't figure out how to get it into reverse and had to push it in a circle until it was facing the right direction So just borrow a friends car that has a manual gearbox and after a weekend with it you should be comfortable enough for a test drive. One thing to take note of with the manual is the very real possiblity of having to replace your tranny prematurely. You know that already Im sure. FWIW I love my AT. So far it feels bulletproof. I can't remember the last time I read a post on here where somebody was having problems with the auto. Having said that, I still wish I would have gotten the 6 speed. Especially if it was transplanted somehow into the Z from an RSX
