CGT? GT2? GT3? Any TVR? ZO6? Viper? NSX?
Ferrari is just about the only one who uses them in real sports cars.

I know the NSX comes in automatic because I test drove one. All the porsches come with Automatic also except for the ones you mentioned which are probably designed more for track use then for daily driving.

Don't start with the "people who can afford those exotic, AT only cars are older." While that comment can be true, you fail to understand what I mean. Great, the SLR is $450,000 base. So not many people can afford it. But it is still a supercar. Why pack all that power under the hood if you're not ganan drive it. Mercedes designed it to be a supercar... if they wanted, they could offer MT as an option, since it's their supercar... but they don't. They force the driver to drive AT. All I'm saying is that an AT w/ a Manual Mode shouldn't be shunned upon. All you M/T enthusiasts out there always bash the **** out of A/T. Stop... because years down the line, when you mature up, you'll realize how stupid you sounded way back then. I'm not trying to say that A/T is better than M/T. A/T has its advantages and disadvantages, as does M/T. But when someone asks what they should buy, don't say "M/T CUZ A/T IS FOR PUSSIES" or "M/T ALL THE WAY CUZ ITS THE REAL WAY TO DRIVE A SPORTS CAR." That is only your opinion. Some of the fastest cars out there are A/T whether you guys like it or not. When someone asks for help, give them the facts of A/T and the facts of M/T. A/T is more convinient and safer while still giving u power, M/T allows you to "drive" the car more while giving u the hassle of having to "drive" the car. Those are the facts. Not "M/T IS THE WAY TO GO CUZ I'M ALWAYS RIGHT."
look at the 2006 350z brochure, not ONE picture of the cockpit has a AT in it... all MT's. i dont know if this is a marketing ploy or whatnot but i guess nissan is trying to show people that MT is their preferred choice. but once again, drive both.

However, it's all about the marketing. People have a notion to think that sports cars SHOULD BE M/T... and to be honest, when you look at an M/T stick and an A/T stick, the M/T looks much cooler. That is why all the pics are M/T... cooler pics = cooler car = more $ for Nissan.
Don't be fooled... Nissan's main goal is not to deliver you a great car, it's to get you to BUY that car...

At the end of the day, get what makes you happy.

#1 - You might not want to use the SLR as your example, it's not exactly the pinnacle of sports cars (I don't even consider it one).
#2 - The McLaren and CGT are pure manual. They are the top dogs in this game.
#3 - The Enzo (close to the previous 2 stated) should of been your point of reference. And the fact that it has a F1 style box has ZERO to do with 99% of autos. It's a sequential box with paddles and it shifts faster than a human can, THAT is why they used it.
In general MT's will always be the choice of Hardcore Car enthusiests and young males.
I do beleive that if your buying a sports car as your weekend fun car it should definatly be a MT, but if your buying it as your everyday transportation and spend more then hr. in bumper to bumper traffic then AT makes a lot sense.
Couple Fridays ago I was stuck on the 91 freeway for close to two hours and I was cursing my MT, well actualy i was cursing all the drivers in front of me causing the traffic jam
And lets not forget the wife factor, lot of wives will not let you spend $30k+ on a car if they can't drive it also (as most non-car enthusist females don't know how to drive a MT and don't wish to learn either)

If you've never driven a manual, get one just to see what it's like. A test drive won't be enough to really tell you -- you need to live with it for a year or more, especially if you are used to auto.
