I am at about 450 miles (brand new Z) and so far I think I am getting 16 mpg. Most of my driving so far has happened on my commute to/from work which is about a 5 mile stretch of highway (55 mph zone) with a traffic light about every mile. So there is plenty of cruising in heavy traffic at 40 mph, quick sprints to 80 mph when the traffic clears up, and starting from rest from redlights. Considering this type of driving and that I am still within the "break-in period", I guess this mileage isn't too bad. I would expect it to improve a bit once the engine is fully broken-in. For whatever it is worth, one day last week the MPG meter was reading 17.5 mpg and then I got on the turnpike for about a 25 mile stretch, and by the time I got off the exit after 25 miles the MPG meter was reading 20.5 mpg. If this is an average reading, instead of a more instantaneous reading, then I would think the fuel efficiency during that drive was up in the mid-20's, which I am satisfied with at 80 mph.

If you're still breaking in the car, expect your MPG to plummet. 5 miles of stoplights = 0-60mph redlines.

Depends on situation. I'm a fan of relying on more brakes in the city while doing more downshifting on the highway and longer stretches of road, and i'm also a fan of running stop signs.

Hey man, not to get too off-topic (sorry I haven't figured out how to send PM's!), but I see you are in Honey Brook. I'm just down in Exton, and used to live in Eagle (Upper Uwchlan). Small world, eh?

Back on topic!

Funny you should ask that. I'm not a Z owner yet, but my GF 05 Maxima gets about 1.5 mpg better gas mileage on 87 as opposed to 91. I would have guess it to be the other way around.
