Default DYNO on saturday

Im gonna dyno my Z for the first time, My question is what is the hp it puts out at the wheels?? I heard its 287 clamied and 240 at the wheels? is that true? All I have is a cold air intake and thats it, so what will the dyno results be?

yeah i never understood this, if the car comes stock 287 horses (unles 06, 300 horses) then why does it say liek "OH 242 WHP!!!" or "269 WHP!!" isnt it alreayd like 287, or 300?> or does WHP different than HP? or what? lol sorry, im a noob =/ just need clarifying

The engine makes 287 horsepower. The horsepower makes it to the drive wheels, but not all of it. The loss is referred to as drive train loss.


Racers will attempt to minimize drive train loss by shortening the drive train. Notice the dragster above.

not all z's make 287 at the flywheel. some makes 260 and some 300. I think 287 is an average number or else, everyone would get the same dyno #s. I think 237 wrhp is about average for stock z, more or less. The lowest I've seen was 217 and the highest was 252.
