A member on this site has run 10.8 (maybe less, by now) in the 1/4 with a greddy TT on the stock motor.

There are many Z's with FI and built vq35's pushing 700+whp on street driven cars.

Performance Motorsports has a 6 second "350z". Not a whole lot of it is really Z, but it does still use the vq35 block.

oh i believe it, i mean he does have a turbo! That's tight, whats the weakest part in the 350z motor in terms of modding?

We just broke our n/a v6 record, 11.9 secs in the 1/4 mile no nitrous, no turbo, no supercharger, just all motor.

here is the race between our n/a 11.9 sec v6 (the green fox body, with new v6 engine put in it) and the turbo v6 (white pre 1999 with cobra front bumper). The white car has done its best run at 10.3, this run i think it said 11 flat, he just got a new set up and its hard to get used to him driving it, his best trap speed so far is 135+.

http://youtube.com/watch?v=x7jC_BvtkVc

and here is the green monster on a 11.89 sec run
http://youtube.com/watch?v=42DzAdJ-N0E

*Note the green fox body came with a ****ty 2.3 litre 4 banger that was pulled for a 94-2004 v6 mustang engine block. The fox body mustangs from 1986-1993 didnt have v6 options. This is one of only 2 v6 fox body mustangs that are on our forum, the other one is an old carbed one from 85.

The vast majority of our cars are 1994-2004 and ofcourse the 2005+ v6es are popping up now.

Of the non fox body 94+, i am not sure what our fastest one is n/a, they used the fox body since its a few hundred lbs lighter, but that motor is the most built v6 in our site (there are professional racers with way more hp and race only engines using the same block however), if that were in a 94-2004 body it'd probably run a mid 12 to low 12.

true, i think the only problem you guys will face with getting a real 350z into the 8s and 9s is the aluminum block, do they make any reinforcement parts like stud girdle, forged cranks etc...?

anyone ever put the 3.5 litre 350z motor in a lighter 240Z or 300Z or something (sorry if i mix up my Zs and Xs)?

whats the bore and stroke of your motors and the 3.0 litre v6 from the 300Zs?

we also run the v6 supercoupes and regular coupe t-birds, they use essentially the same engine as the 1994-2004 mustangs, but the 99-2004 mustang v6es have better heads and intakes. The s/c's arent as impressive as the v6 mustangs, but that is if you just look at their 1/4 mile times, but they are impressive if you consider the fact that the supercoupes wegih 4k lbs compared to our 3050-3200 lbs ponies

lol let us mod the hell out of our suspension first! (but you guys will still probably have us in a turning race) keep in mind we are 300 lbs lighter than the v8 mustangs.

i do know the new 05+ v8 mustang was put in a competition against an audi (dont know which one, i am thinking A8), and mazda rx8. The audi won the drag race, the mustang won the COURSE RACE

i would have thought the audi would lose to the mustang on the track, and the mustang would get owned by both the mazda rx8 and audi on the course race!

11.7 here...but no slips... this was done in a test and tune session and it was only displayed on the board.

I'm only running test pipes, exhaust, and TT @ 100 octane only.

oh and trust me...I'm FARRRRRR from being the fastest in this area......

yea that'd make sense since its n/a stock. Just OCASIONALY they'll throw in forged rods or something to help strengthen the motor if there is a lot of compression.

yea the 4.0 OHV motor is an american design, the 4.0 SOHC was designed in ford europe, i am not fan of the motor as i see SOHCs pointless on a V design engine without adding more valves. Also the timing chain is on the rear, and all sorts of things i dont like, more water passages etc... The 3.8 is my baby, i like it more, but then again i own one! 3.8 is OHV pushrod and is realted to the 4.0 pushrod motor. you must have had a ranger i take it or explroer from 95 or before?

There are some crazy guys working on trying to mount DOHC heads onto the 4.0 05+ v6 block, but i dont think they've been putting much effort into it.

yea i recently saw those super modded ones. They are Zs no doubt, but they got loads of money and big corporate sponsorship. If anyone gave two ****s about the v6 mustang then i am sure they'd be pushing them lower too, but people just dont have the will or energy to push one into that. Most of our guys are like the guys on this forum, want a fast driveable car. I personally wouldnt mind owning a 6 sec car, but if i had to pick, i'd rather have a daily driveable car that ran 9,10s, or 11s.

i agree but i was just saying that i kno the 6.6 sec Z isn't streetable.. but the 8.33 sec one may be streetable. if not then the 10 sec one is and we have several of those Z's. anyway, hopefully a few of the faster Z's show up at the v6 ford meets for a few friendly runs. good luck

BTW the Z's crank is forged stock. So are the rods (pretty sure) but the pistons are cast. Too bad your in FL.
