Do you know what the Jersey laws about tinting are? I'll be interested in what kind of deals you find and will tell you of any ones I find.

I tinted all my windows except for the front for $95 with lifetime warranty.
tinted the darkest legally possible in TX.

Stereo-Fx did a great job. First there were bubbles, but they all went away after a few weeks.

Out of all of them, FormulaOne is far more superior than any of these other films. Reason being, it comes with a guaranteed NO COLOR change warranty, as well as a scratch warranty: both are LIFETIME. This means that if you scratch it, break it, or anything that you can think of to f*ck the tint up, it will be retinted for no cost. As you can see by the cost of the southern state tinters, they are considerably cheaper. Their's people setting up tint tents in the parking lot of walmart and tinting outside, but HOW IN THE WHO CAN YOU TINT OUTSIDE WITHOUT HAVE A BEACH IN YOUR TINT!!! I am as **** as they come, and tint it to perfection, i take the door panels off and use a clamp to push the door pin in to roll the window completely up. Actually, on most cars i take the door glass out of the vehicle so it goes all the way to the edge w/o a gap. That's my 3.50 cents worth..........
20 minutes is not too fast for a z. this is how we do it; i cut and tint the roll-ups, panel boy takes off panels, and second tinter tints back window and sides. everything happens at one time. other tinter has 14 years experience and taught me everything he knew. we take a lot of pride in our work and we stirve at being fast and precise. quickness is the key to minimize dust.

i like your style of taking off the panels. the z is easy to tint with panels on, but seriously, it only takes 1 minute to take off one panel. and i'd rather get the film deeper under the rubber to prevent peeling and dust. as for taking out windows, we only do that on quarter windows for newer hondas and older camrys.

1. Since the window is slightly down when the door is open, do you push the button in on the inside of the door so that you can tint the whole window? If so, does opening/closing the door mess up the tint at the bottom since you are not supposed to roll down your window for 3 days?
Otherwise there will be a strip at the bottom of the window when the door is closed that is not tinted. I know it is small but it will get on my nerves and to someone walking by it will look like a bad tint job since the tint is short.

Well r26 posted before I replied. I am assuming this fixes the problem w/ the automatic roll down?

not sure if someone answered your question. but anyways, all we have to do is unscrew the screw that holds that button; the one that the door hits. once unscrewed, the window automatically goes up. and there should never be a gap on the bottom. if that happens, take it back.

there will usually be bubbles and haziness for a week. if you leave your car in the sun a lot, it might go away in as little as two days. it's kinda weird that every so often i'll tell that to the customer and they will call back about bubbles. i then say "what did i explain to you before you left"; they will reply with "there will be bubbles for one week and it will go away". i don't get it.

damn, heaing all these prices that you guys are paying and getting quoted makes me want to open up shop in the mainland. $200 for a z!

Yeah I will let you know if I find any cheaper. This guy I went to was doing 35% for 200 though. The simple fact that I wanted 20%, he increased pricing to about 240. As of yet, I haven't seen anything cheaper. Either the shops are within the same price range or the mod shop doesnt do tint.

I paid $249 for mine a place called The Tint Pros. I admit it was a bit high, but after looking around their shop, they didn't an absolute perfect job. They're using their own patented tint with 99.9% UV protection. It took 3 hrs to get it done, so they must have taken all my door panels off or something. I can't complain. Tints look so good on a white car.

Its definitely NOT necessary to take the door panels off. 20 mins is an avg time to do that car. Anything outside the 100- 175 range is quite pricey and you are getting ripped off. And what is special about Tint Pros "patented" tint? Nearly All fillms are 99.9% UV rated. Removing srews isn't necessary either. If you use a quick clamp and clamp the button in the door jamb the problem is solved. Then when the film is applied heat the bottem edge to accelerate the drying slightly and the sides are done. I hope some of these tinters never get any exotic vehicles. That could really be something to see and watch the customers S*** themslves when they are removing the door panel to their Ferrari, Lambo, etc. Some people are making this way too complicated. The 350Z is one of the EASIEST cars to tint in my opinion. I mean there are easier, but not too many.

Note to ALL: For the most part Tint costs the same no matter what the VLT %(as long as it is in the same product line) The only things that really change the price of films are 1) the size of the roll. 2) The "grade"/product line of the film 3) Brand (slightly in most cases) This leaves NO EXCUSE FOR the "you're getting darker, so its going to be more expensive" That only applies in certain cases where you may be going into a different product line (i.e. mirror tint, specialty films, and the such)

I'm sorry to keep going, I just don't think it's fair to hear about you guys getting ripped off by tinters who keep telling these "stories" to get more money out of a customer. Its such a shame and they should be embarrassed for doing such questionable business practices.

You got a good deal and the guy is giving you a great price. Places that tint in Florida are a dime a dozen, thats one of the biggest reasons its cheaper there. Its simply more common. I mean my 80 yr old grandfather has tint on his 7 series down there.

I tinted in Florida for about 4yrs while I was in college to make some extra cash. The prices are significantly lower there, but like the guy before said...There are people setting up in tents in parking lots and stuff down there. Tinting in a tent can be done, its just not something I would ever recommend trying. There are just sooo many tinters the competiton becomes crazy and drives the prices WAY down. Lower prices are usually due to the "fly by night" set-ups that are EXTREMELY common now, and those are the one's you need to be careful of. How can you get a "lifetime" warranty when the guy is gone in 6 months to a year?
