Default Where do you put he hitch?

Wait at least 15 minutes before flaming... but I had a hitch on the Supra and I have a hitch on the Stealth... Am I gonna have to tell the Harely to stay home. Someone please help. VQRacer's vendor list was fantastic but nowhere did I see DrawTight. And, where would you put it on the car any ways, the muffler's all up in the way?

I guess I'm thinking maybe a two seater shouldn't be pullin' a trailer, but my Corolla used to look great pulling the runabout. I might have to get used to the idea!

I would imagine it would require custom work if it can be done at all. And of course, Nissan does not approve of towing on this vehicle.

Yep, that's all I have is the small 4X8, low side rails, pin striped...
But, what can you do... I always thought it looked kind of cool to have a great car but still be somewhat self reliant. And a little propellor or something sticing out the back isn't so bad.

Actually I want to do intake & exhaust 1st and then if it fits... but I can't remember for sure if any of those mufflers went in that direction. It sounds like there's at least someone else out there who would consider it! I think towing your own tires to the race is down right righteous!

The cool thing was my MR2 Spyder that had 2 towbolt points in the back. You could remove the hitch without a trace in 2 minutes:

But now because I'm typing I can't see your picture. What was that???

On the MR2, all you did was pop off 2 little plastic caps on the back, hand thread in those bars and pin the hitch in place. A few minutes at the most and no trace of it when removed.

Please don't tow things with this car....
It is just wrong...

Not because it just looks bad (which is horrendously does), but because there are some things that just don't go together.

ohhh the humanity...

j/k - do whatever twirls your beanie.
(but seriously it does look bad and I don't want to see your Z-train anywhere around me).

Yeah, alright... I would, but as nice as my little tailer is it would need a serious upgrade to pass muster behind the Z. But one of those sleek rails, pulling a custom Harley might not look too bad.
No. That's not me either. I usually ride the bike where ever I go. I will ride it to Milwaukee this year but sometimes you just have to tow it... like it's broken or whatever... so I'll just have tokeep the Stealth as the family car. Me and my Hog.

Just twirlin' my beanie

Default I NEED A HITCH!

Has anyone yet solved the hitch problem? I don't want one, but I need to tow my Sea Doo around every once and a while. But trust me, if I can't get a hitch thats almost invisible, I won't be putting one on.

Anyone put one on yet?

Smile custom hitch

we have looked into getting a hitch at proffesional muffler where we got them for our eclipses and were referred to a private welder that says he thinks he can do it.my wife had him look at the car so i havent talked to him yet.i wanted to show him the pictures on this site, hoping he could make an easly removable one like the one with pins, but they seem to have gone away.he quoted a price around 250.ill check back when its done. any more info would be appreciated.

Here's an idea. Ride the Harley, leave the Z at home. Works for me...different bike, same principle.

But ya know it's hard, sometimes, to choose between the Harley, Honda ST1100, or the Z. so with the hitch you can take them all

If I recall, the owners manual indicates that the Z can tow up to 800 lbs.

That's about two bikes and a small trailer, correct?

There's gotta be some structural members near the bumper area that can be used for a hitch. I guess it's making the hitch clean and removable that would be the trick.

Interesting...

I have a truck but honestly I dont want to use it to tow my Gp1300R..........it has NO A/C and its f-in 90deg with 100% humidity lately. Maybe its time for the metal man to take a look at the under side of the Z for a bolt on hitch

The other option would be a roof rack of some sort.
I've been trying to come up with a way to get a set of race tires to the track. I've seen some people use a roof rack with tires on top.

Dunno if anyone will ever make a roof rack for a Z.

There's a guy in VA I think that has designed a hitch. He's waiting for his new Z (his other one was wrecked before he got it, he found that out AFTER he got the car home) and some legal issues to be taken care of so that he can either sell the design or produce the hitches. I am not sure when he will have everything ready, but I am waiting on him. I may end up just taking the stock muffler off and going with something smaller, then having a hitch built at a custom shop.

I had a set of roof racks for a bicycle before, made by yakima, that I had on my 91 240sx. Im sure they would work on the Z too, maybe I should look in the attic. I was thinking of putting a race tire or 2 on top and 2 in the back to get to the track.
