Default Why are the '06 Zs so much heavier?

'03-'05 base Zs weigh 3,188 but starting in '06 base Zs weigh 3,339. What the reason for the 151 pound gain?

because you eat too much jk

I believe most have said its due to much more vibration and sound insulation than previous models.

Yeah, I heard the cabin of the '06 is more quiet than the '03-'05 models. Part of the extra weight is probably due to more sound deadening material.

Not really. How hard is it to strip down a car if you really really wanted to? Not that hard....

Yeah but you obviously sacrifice alot of things.

Losing a 150lbs in a car is a big deal, unless you had boat loads of discretionary funds for your car and start swapping out high dollar parts: titanium muffler, CF body panels etc...

Adding an extra 15 or so horsepower to the crank of a Z and still have a full-body car? Not so hard....to me at least.

Yeah, it just depends how far you are willing to go. I got 135# out of my old ITR for the track, but I was driving around in a tin can. And that was a daily driver.
