Ok, I did it. I test drove the Z and the GT back to back yesterday. After driving both, the Z definetely wins hands down. The GT felt too loose in the steering and the inside of it did not feel as comfortable as the Z, felt kinda cheap. Now, the question is which Z to get.

The dealer had an 05 with leather, bose, etc...he said it was the GT...but it was yellow - not a color I wanted, kept pushin to sell it but wanted too much -- 34,500. Then I drove the 06 silver enthusiast, I would of bought it but I wanted to go for the silverstone which they didnt have, looks like I'm waiting another week for the new shipment to come in!! Cant Wait!

i will have to say HELL NO on the mustang exhaust note sounding better. if you don't like anything about the z, you have to at least love the exhaust note. when you hear a z, g or fx, you know what it is. can't say that for too many cars on the road.

+1.. stang does sound nice but it just doesn't sound as refined as the Z's does. anyway.. stang isn't that bad.. it does feel cheap tho. glad u got to test drive both cars.. good luck on finding the Z u want

I would say that the mustang has one of the most recognizable exhaust notes out there. The V8 sounds pretty darn nice and beefy. Now having owned a 98 Cobra in the past and now my 06 Z I like my Z more, the handling is pretty nice and it's an all around fun car. I was considering the Mustang GT, used Z06 Vette, RX8, Z, and G35. I had a base new mustang for two weeks as a rental while out of town and the major part that bothered me was how cheap the interior felt in it.

I never drove the RX8 (read of too many problems), as for the Vette well I guess my general dislike for vettes in general just won over. I drove an 04 with some Nismo gear on it then the 06 and well lets just say the moment I drove the Z my decision was made.

Oh maaaaan, why do you want a Silverstone. There are way too many on the road. j/k

I love my Silverstone and am glad I waited for mine. It's just a little different.

If you want an easy to drive, less nimble, heavier car then might as well get a family sedan!

the brakes on the z are too touchy, the clutch is non-linear, and the exhaust is too boomy. the z/g's exhaust annoy me at lower rpms. it sounds better at the higher rpms. the quick steering ratio and high roll stiffness feel good though.

easy to drive does not mean slow. easy to drive means it feels natural to the driver. go drive an evo or a miata and you'll see what i mean.
