Default Transmission Noise

When the car is in neutral there is a transmission noise, something like a bearing. Do you guys experience this as well. It goes away when the clutch is pressed in. Thanks

If you turn the engine off with the car in neutral, you will hear a sound like marbles rolling around in a can. That's normal. I do notice that the trans is a little louder in neutral with the clutch out than in, so it may be related.

yeah, i first heard this a couple of months ago, when i drove home from vegas, i thought there was something wrong with the car and before i planned to bring it back to the dealer, the noise was gone...i mean it was like a really loud can full of marbles churning...it comes and goes at times. not sure though.

This is totally normal. Do a search in the "repairs" section.

Mine does it after long drives. I first noticed it when I drove from Vegas to Phoenix.

I have a 3-week-old 2006 MT here, and I get the same noise. +1 to the marbles comment, and +1 to the tranny sounding louder in neutral with clutch out than with clutch in. My clutch pedal also makes a popping sound/feeling when depressing it, but it literally depends on the weather. For instance today it is 55 degrees and almost raining, and the pedal is popping. We'll see what happens...

+1
I get the popping noise when it's cold out, after the car warms up this noise goes away. I also have the "marbles" sound when I'm in neutral. I'm sorry but I'm taking mine back to the dealer to have them fix. Just not right in my book.
