what the hell
Is the car new to you? If so, it's possible that the previous owner had the idle raised by the dealer to prevent rough idle. If not, is the car at operating temperature, or does it only do this when you first start the car. Did it just start doing this or has it always done it. How long has it been doing this? What changed since it started doing this.....

maybe the throttle body's all greased up and closed.. but that usually don't happen on newer cars.. you may have a vaccum leak, but that usually get your idle to 1500ish. .7k is normal.

It doesn't sound like a problem. Even an intake will lower your idle. Kelly's probably right, if you purchased your Z with mods then it's likely that person raised his Idle.

Yeah, it's definitely not "bad" for the car unless it is a sign of a vacuum leak as Cannysage suggested (i.e. engine is getting air that is not being metered via the MAF/throttle-body). If that were the case, I'd want to fix it. If not, it's fine, but it's not the stock idle setting for the car at operating temperature.
