Default 05/06 owners PLEASE help an OG 2003 owner

I am not a newbie, but an OG Z owner. My 2003 350z was a total nightmare. A dream since i was a kid that turned out to be a complete disappointment. But I am considering rehashing my dream with a 2006. I would love a new car experience that doesnt end in the word LEMON

I have been searching for 3 hours now and my girlfriend is gonna kill me if I dont get off the computer, sooooo:

IS THE 2005 2006 TRANNY A GOOD ONE OR NOT? I dont know what the funk was going on with my 2003 and all the trannies I got. But I got up to #006 and they ALL SUCKED! I am hoping that something strange with the 2003 killed those trannies and that a 2006 is the way to go.

If I buy a 2006 and there is any chance of a notchy grinding tranny or a roaring set of OEM tires i will go POSTAL and BOMB nissan.

Advise me.... take a chance again or just give up. FYI, I have been driving a 300zxtt since that is oh so wonderful! HELP!

I traded mine in for an 2006.
I like it a lot more.
I think they cleared up the tranny problem
Go test drive one, you'll notice a difference.

Ive had my 06 for about 4 months, and it has about 5,000 miles so its too soon to tell. So far the tires look fine, no feathering, no roar. Tranny is a bit notchy, but no grinds or anything. It feels a lot smoother overall than an 04 I drove (clutch, tranny, etc). I dont know if anyone with an 06 has had their tranny replaced though...I hope they finally got it right.

thanks alot guys. Im going to test drive one then. The exciting part is that it comes with all the good stuff as a base model now! (esp. the HID's and 18's!)

I have an 05 Performance with about 11k miles. No feathering, but 2nd gear is a bit notchy. Other than that, the car runs great...

well.. you say diet.... but my 300zxtt is a mamoth 3500lbs

Im thinking the extra weight makes the car a little softer... at least itll be better than the tt that is bone jarring.

Any 0-60 reports on the 2006? Im gonna search that now.

I've had my 06 base for a little over a month. I now have 2300 miles and no problems. I just love the car. Go for it. Do your homework and don't over pay.

'05 Base here, 23k miles. No problems at all yet (except the rear axle clicking noise that I just got fixed). Tranny seems fine and no tire feathering at all. I don't think the '05s have any tire feathering issues.
