I have not noticed any rattles but I do have what sounds like a click sound from the dash, almost sounds like a rock hitting the window when your on the highway. Happens randomly no matter if I am moving or stopped, sometimes it happens 5-10 times within a few minutes, others times I don't hear it for long periods of time. Could be I have the radio up though, most I turn the volume up to is like 15 which is still pretty low

I have pinpointed a rattle! Some of you might have it too and it should be an easy fix. At first I thought it was coming from the dash up by the window but its not. It's coming from the rear view mirror. Mine is the homelink version so I dunno if others have this but there is this little plastic piece that covers the wires where they come from the roof to the mirror. That bastard piece will start to buzz at high RPMs especially on rough roads. Next time you hear a rattle reach up and touch that little peace and see if it is the culprit.

ROFL, this coming from a guy with a completely illegible handle. Priceless.

'04 Coupe, just rolled 9k miles, no rattles yet, but I have acquired a nice clanking sound from the tranny area, sounds like 2 spoons being slapped together. I took it in today for routine service, and am having them look at that too.

One noise that I've noticed in my 06 Z would go away when I un-buckle the seat belt. I noticed the seat belt socket sometimes rubs on the plastic casing and produces a noise that was initially hard to pin point. I still did not solve the problem, though, maybe I need to apply some wax to the plastic to eliminate the noise.

Had a total of 3 years 3 months and 29,800 miles on my '03 touring and no rattles. A temporary intermittent buzz a long time ago that disappeared.

Default Rattle on left side of dash

I've got something between a rattle and a buzz on the driver's side of the dashboard. At first I thought it was a loose speedometer needle or something, but now it sounds like it's coming from the tiny fixed vent holes on the far left side of the dash. It usually happens in cold weather, right when I start driving. It usually goes away when the car warms up.

But not always.

Frustrating.

I have noticed a rattle from the dash too. Mine comes from the passenger side right up by the corner of the windshield and the dash.

Put me down for a passenger side dash squeek. This one's deep...can recreate if I rap on the airbag area hard. I don't even want the dealership to take the dash apart b/c you know it will only create more elsewhere.

The thing that pisses me off is you know their are some smart m'fers out there that have devised squeek/rattle proof fittings, they just want big $$$ royalty for manufacturers to use their patents or are expensive to produce so they get passed up.

Surprised to hear about the M3 comment...every BMW I've been in has been very solid and rattle-free. Even old ones.

i can second the rearview mirror rattling. I have secured the clip above it that was loose, and there is something in the mirror itself that still rattles. One day I might take it apart and tinker around with it, but who knows. My 03 touring has some strange buzzing sounds coming from the passenger door when temp is really cold, I can't even describe the sound. Also the hatch area when going over bumps. oh well, love the car anyhow.

I have one rattle and its when I turn up the stereo system, the bass rattles something in the door (stock speakers).

I read once it might be some styrofoam pieces in the door. I'll have to check it out one day. It only does it with certain bass notes though, like the really deep ones.
